armentage Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Come on, any attempt to defend the Yukikaze anime is ridiculous. Other than pretty airplane designs, it's a steaming pile of crap. It's OK to watch an anime just for the toys. There's no need to defend it, we're not going to think less of you. Quote

Other than pretty airplane designs, it's a steaming pile of crap. 355332 Yeah, I was a bit disappointed myself when I watched eps. 3-4. The pacing is horribly slow, not to mention that the story's going nowhere. Mind you, I haven't seen episode 5 yet, but I've read nothing but negative reviews on it. Quote
myk Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I'll second those reviews. After seeing episode 5, I still feel as if the story has gone absolutely nowhere, albeit very violently...Maybe better subtitling would help...I don't know... Quote
wm cheng Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Its been a few months now... any word on a subtitled version of OVA5? Quote
Valkyrie Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 A fansub of it was finally released last night http://datorrents.com/torrents-details.asp?id=6209 Just got done watching it. It's excelent. Quote

GRAND CANNON Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 It's those dang .mkv files that always cause me troubles too. Hopefully a good ol' .avi will show up soon. Quote
Valkyrie Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 It's not a raw. It played fine for me under Media Player Classic. Try installing the latest version of Matroska. That should help. http://www.animesuki.com/doc.php/help/playback.html Quote
electric indigo Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 (edited) A 1/72 Sylphide finally showed up at WF. Anybody got info on this? Edited February 21, 2006 by electric indigo Quote

wm cheng Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 A 1/72 Sylphide finally showed up at WF. Anybody got info on this? 372270 Damn! I've been waiting for this plane - but I swore it looked a lot sleeker in the anime... is it really that boxy?! It may not be a platz resin, it could just be some poorly proportioned scratchbuild. Quote
electric indigo Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I think it's in line with the artwork and the Omoole version Quote
Valkyrie Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I nearly sh!t a brick when I saw this one.... I must have it. There's one on yahoo japan auctions... but it's already soared to Y38,500 with 3 days left on it I was ready to bid up to $250 on it, but I can see this one's gonna be way out of my league. So unless maybe I could find a few people to go in on it with me, this one's going to slip away >_< And yes, the proportions look dead-on. It's not supposed to be as sexy as the Supersylph Quote
Spatula Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 A 1/72 Sylphide finally showed up at WF. Anybody got info on this? 372270 I don't know what this is, but it wins. (how ignorant of a statement is that! ) Well, actually, I still think the VF-4 wins WITH 100% God Sauce. Quote
Spatula Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I think it's in line with the artwork and the Omoole version 372365 Don't know the series, but the front elevation looks like the VF-11B. Yukikaze ... snow wind...heh. Quote
wm cheng Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) Don't get me wrong... I love the design. Its just more boxy around the forward fuselage (right behind the cockpit) than I thought. The orthographic views in those drawings don't really show how squared off the sides are. I guess you see it constantly moving around in the show - so you don't get a sense of how flat the sides are. Now I only wish Bandai would come out with a 1/100 scale version that is cheaper and in scale with my other Yuks. I don't think I can afford to go Platz on this one... I WANT AN ART BOOK! Very comprehensive too. The DVD it comes with is kinda lame, but that's not what I bought it for It's 50 bucks VERY well spent! Quote
Macross73 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Damn . This is cool. the temptation to buy it is strong but ..... I must resist. Quote
electric indigo Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 May we ask for a glimpse at the artbook's content? Quote

How do I order from Amazon Japan? Can someone get it for me and ship it to Canada? Or is there another service that I may order this from? What's on the DVD - is it region coded? That model does look sweet - beautiful parts! Still not sure about the boxy sides, but love the side view! Maybe just too many wing surfaces? Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 dontcha think Platz will do something with the Normal Sylph?? Quote
electric indigo Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Even IF Platz makes a Sylphide, it won't be cheaper that this one and probably will come without the fantastic cockpit. But there's still hope that Omo Ole Toys will release their 1/144 yukikaze series. wm cheng, you can open an international account at amazon.jp and order from the site. They have english help to guide you through. -i- Quote

electric indigo Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I dare say that this is the original novel. Nice to see that the aircraft design has leaped forward a few lightyears since then. -i- Quote

Don't bother with it. It's mostly text, and seems to focus mostly on the novels. There's nothing interesting from the anime to be had (for us english speakers, that is.) Quote

Would love to offer em to the community but lets wait until I get the rest of the squardron in. I wonder if there is a market for a scaled up 1/48 kit. Quote
Less than Super Ostrich Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I'd love a 1/48th series... Sylph, Sylphid, Mave.... what a squadron that'd be!! Quote

Neova Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Holy! That is awesome! Any links to that 1/38? Yukikaze's fighters certainly deserves the "ultimate" treatment! Quote
Valkyrie Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I'm in the process of trying to get one or 2. The Wonderfest Normal Sylph kit, you mean? How are you going about it? Is there any means of getting one besides Yahoo Japan at this point? I'd love to get my hands on one without paying through the nose to a scalper on yahoo japan... but I don't see any alternative As for the the 1/38 Mave, there used to be a web page for it, but it's been taken down. I saved the pages, but I didn't get a lot of the full-sized images. Quote
