Has anyone ever made a proper cockpit replacement for that all-resin-one-piece cockpit that we can't ever paint?

Remember these that almost came out!

Oomoolie toys was going to release these along with the Banshee 4.

I remember those photos!  It's really a shame that most of them were never released.
I have one of their Banshee IV kits, and it's really impressive!

I finally got my Final Sortie Mave yesterday.  It looks like it's the same as the Ramjet version, with the obvious addition of the beam cannon and generator turbine parts.
But what I didn't expect is that the new parts are 3D printed resin!  No real complaint, since the parts still  look fantastic, but it's really surprising to see on a retail resin kit.

Makes me wonder one more time what the production numbers of these kits are.

Yea, they can't be huge, if they couldn't justify making one more set of molds for this new version.

But then again, that beam cannon is a pretty damn complicated part.  It probably would have had to get broken down into a few smaller parts for it to be cast-able with silicone molds.

I just wished Hasegawa (with their expertise in aircraft) does the entire line in 1/72 as injection styrene models.  I'd love to get that FFR-31, but at $240 for a lump of resin, is hard to swallow!

Amen, and I'd love to see proper kits of more of the designs as well.

Maybe we need to convince Project Aces to make a Yukikaze Ace Combat game to convince them... and now I'm sad that that doesn't exist.

(Though it might exist as a Project Wingman mod, which is almost as good, just without any licensing potential.)

In terms of the resin production though, I'm curious what the financial comparison would be, in terms of effort and production cost.  The printers drastically reduce the initial part design cost, completely eliminate the expense for the molds, but add a lot more cleanup, and probably a fair amount more production time, not to mention the setup for dealing with the fumes and other hazardous materials.  Some of that applies to normal resin casting as well, but being able to completely skip the molds feels like a nice benefit.

Don't forget the speed gain on making the masters. Symmetrical parts with a click of the mouse.

I'm lucky i was able to get these 1/72 resin kits years ago , when they weren't so outrageous.

I received my Yukikaze Design Works book this week, and it is definitely a must-own for any Yukikaze fan. For one, they finally unearthed lineart I've never seen of Admiral 56, including some really nice drawings of the island detailing all the various sensor masts and radars. There's also various drawings showcasing the Super Sylph's multiple radars and distributed sensors, plus all the previous artwork from the older collections.

Ah!  How could I have missed the art book!!!  Is it only on sale from PlayAsia (from what I see earlier on this thread) or is it anywhere else maybe friendlier to ship to Canada?

I will avoid flooding this thread with every cool bit of artwork in the book, however these are simply too irresistible not to post.

Just got my copy delivered yesterday, and I fully agree this is an amazing book!  It's crazy the amount of detail they went into for each of these designs, way deeper than anything actually used in the anime, it seems, though that understanding of the designs certainly informs the solidity of what you see on the screen.  I almost feel like these planes could actually be built from the level of detail presented here.  Great book, worth every penny, and very much appreciate you guys highlighting it here, otherwise I'd have never known it existed!  Thank you!
