latheboy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Thanks mickyg, it's a big step for me as I haven't done any modelling for about 20 years. I have a few model kits still in boxes that need to be built up so my painting skills are going to get a work out. Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 I think you already won the title of coolest dad on earth from your kids Quote
latheboy Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Ha, who says they can play with it .. Well at least I can just print another when it get broken.. Or maybe I should do the set and we can have one each. 1J and 1A .. Quote
VF-1A Grunt Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 That's some impressive work! The J head would be interesting - you'd be looking through a pretty narrow view from inside it. I have a feeling the A head wouldn't be wide enough for you to fit your head inside at that scale. Might have to make that one just for the kids! Quote
latheboy Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Thanks, since I thought about the other 2 heads I've been looking for good detailed pictures of the 1J and 1A heads.... can't find anything good enough to model off, i'll keep looking. I don't think either the J or A will fit my head at this scale, just for the kids I reckon... that's if I do them. I'm going to make a wall mount so I can mount it like a trophy I'll get the parts laser cut in 5mm Aluminium and weld it together and paint. Should look pretty cool hanging on the wall. The plate with holes in it bothers me a bit, I might change it to make it more Macross styled... Ideas anyone? Quote
Kurisama Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 For the holes - a kawamori-vernier at a 45 degree angle should do the trick - or study some of the concept art available online for the carrier arm or hangar bays for inspiration. Quote
latheboy Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 Good idea 99. An upside down version of this will work nicely, Good job Rodavan Quote

latheboy Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Bad picture but it's now hanging in my shed, needs some more painting and a lense but I'm happy with it. Quote
