latheboy Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Well after the Lancer 11 was printing well I thought I'd have a crack at something else. I always thought it would be rad to have a VF-1S helmet that I can wear, so a couple (read lots) of hours later ... Bamm... The lasers will rotate together so I can roll them down and go pew pew. First part off the print. Quote
Xigfrid Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 That's great! I just hope people won't say this is a GITS cosplay! Quote
latheboy Posted May 26, 2017 Author Posted May 26, 2017 Don't know what gits is .. wanna tell Me please. I'm doing this for me, I won't be taking it to any shows, I've never been to a comic convention Quote
Xigfrid Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 "Ghost in the shell" the movie has been recently released in theatres Quote

latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 Author Posted May 28, 2017 Don't know about the figures yet, still on the fence about it.. One laser down, 6 pieces to build and key together. And top rhs on head done .. Quote
MechTech Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 It will also look cool sitting on your coffee table or bookshelf (with the lasers forward of course). - MT Quote
latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 Author Posted May 28, 2017 The ultimate goal would be to have the lasers move on a servo motor or something, that is well beyond me though.. Quote
latheboy Posted May 28, 2017 Author Posted May 28, 2017 I don't think it would last long on a coffee table at my house, I've got a 2 year old boy who's into everything and a 3.5 year old who shows the youngest how to get into everything haha .. it'll sit on a shelf Quote
ScrambledValkyrie Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Cool idea, and impressive work so far. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Quote
latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Stuffed up some printer settings but it came out good enough. Quote
latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 Now the stress is I might not have made it big enough for my head. I reckon another 5mm wider is needed.. I might have to make a strip for down the centre or the kids are going to have a cool toy .. Quote

latheboy Posted May 29, 2017 Author Posted May 29, 2017 I have ears, they will work as padding.. won't they? Once I finish all the main parts I'll tape it up and see. is there anyone here good with electronics that you can point me to for help with servos and drivers? Quote
peter Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Wow, looks pretty awesome so far.....hope you have the funds and inspiration to complete the rest of the valk Quote
latheboy Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 Ha, a full suit is not the plan but would be awesome... I don't think I'm flexible enough to do the different modes though. Quote
latheboy Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Sup K, bet there aren't many here from oz .. progress!!!! Quote
latheboy Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 It is a bit tight so I think I'll make a centre strip to widen it .. kids are fine, fits my wife good, I just didn't give my head enough clearance.. Quote
chyll2 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Would be a cool bicycle helmet or half face helmet replacement Quote
latheboy Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 So this is the longest print I've done so far, 18 hours .. Quote
latheboy Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Cocoon create touch is the printer and cura is the slicer program Quote
wmkjr Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Thanks! Thinking about getting a Wanhao I3 plus which is similar. Quote
latheboy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Been busy doing holidays and stuff so I got back into it this weekend.. Spent last night getting high on glue but ended up with something I can play with. Quote
latheboy Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 I did widen it by 10mm so I remade the chin piece too. Quote
