Jefuemon Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Plus it's coming to a point for me to get rid of some things to make room. Let me know if you've got any old resin kits you'd like to unload. Quote
Kicker773 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Once I feel its complete and post the pics on the Mac server. I'm contemplating on selling my VMF and start searching for the takatokus Quote
Kicker773 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Sorry guys, When I said VMF i was referring to the other dolls.=) Minmay stays put. Plus She might get a twin later down the road. Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 In this reply I dramatically demonstrate the trouble with growing your collection faster than you make room for it. Before you ask 'how do you see the screen' the simple answer is that I don't. Fortunately, mechs are far more interesting to look at than most things I could be looking on the computer, so I guess we can call the whole thing even. Quote
DarrinG Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Interesting how the Matchbox Glaug and Regult are -in a way- 1/60 scale... Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Yeah, I always thought that was a kind of neat coincidence. Even more amusing is if you go by the 10 meter height Macross 7 claims for the Zentreadi rather than the actual size they seem to appear onscreen in the show, even the little Zentreadi G.I.Joe style figures actually work out to be in the ballpart of 1/60-is, only a little bit smaller than the Miria figure that came with the Queadluun. Definitely not perfect, but it's not like Macross ever tried very hard to keep mecha scales consistent with each other anyway, especially with the Zentreadi, so I couldn't be happier with the scale of these things. Mostly I'm just happy that they exist at all, and manage to blend in reasonably well with toys made 20 years later. Matchbox didn't do much right by Macross, but I tip my hat to them for these guys. skullmilitia Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I'm freshly started on my Macross stuff, but I'm hitting it hard.. Waiting on the arrival of the F4 and Vf29! It's not a lot, I've got two more Macross holes in the display case, but they aren't finished. Quote
Mommar Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Matchbox didn't do much right by Macross, but I tip my hat to them for these guys. Really? Both the battle pods are good. Their Destroids, considering they were only $10 at retail originally, still hold up well as the Nousjadeul-Ger though it is a tad skinny. The Bioriod, Invid Scout and Invid Shock trooper all look good (I know, not Macross), though the two Invid could use more articulation. The only two that weren't great were the non-transforming VF-1 and the only semi-partial transforming Hovertank (also not Macross.). I still have everything they made from that line except for the VF-1, Defender and Spartan. Quote

DarrinG Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Personally, I would describe most of the Matchbox toys as horrific... Quote
ultraman zoffy Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Personally, I would describe most of the Matchbox toys as horrific... When I was wearing my kid goggles back in the 80's, they were hot stuff... haha. But, like a lot of girls I knew back then, they didn't age so well. =P Quote

They were the best on the market (and still are for some designs) just through sheer virtue of being the only things on the market but other than that, I find them pretty 'eh'. I agree that a lot of the Southern Cross and Mospeada stuff was pretty awesome, though. Quote
Kicker773 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Matchbox toys aren't bad...i still have their destroids and sealed packaging. Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Matchbox toys aren't bad...i still have their destroids and sealed packaging. Destroids and the SDF-1, some of the best things Matchbox released... for that time period of course. Quote
aceoftherebellion Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Wasn't the SDF-1 just a repackaged Takatoku with nerfed gimmicks? Quote
Benson13 Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Yeah but it doesn't matter because it's still awesome and I personally wouldn't want the launchers in the arms because I think the gimmicks are ugly. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Been a while since I posted pics of my collection so I was bored tonight and took some new pics...still trying to get lighting right through glass with flash...it aint easy..anyway enjoy..these are the best of the lot I think.. Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Superb collection derex! Love the pic of Roy standing next to the VF-X VF-1A & Hikaru's Fan Racer!! Quote
derex3592 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 thanks! none of my friends care anything about my sci-fi hobby's so I like to share it with people on here at least so somebody besides me can enjoy it. I have a good collection of Star Wars stuff as well..maybe I'll post pics of that if the mod's will permit me the slight breach of forum rules... Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Awesome collection!!! I wonder, you're missing the 1/60 VT-1? Quote

Benson13 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Yeeeehh.....just never got into that valk for some reason...don't know why really. I love the small figures. They really add a lot of flavor to your collection. Quote
locidm Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Where did you order the 1/60 figures from? I remember seeing them but I didn't pull the plunge then but would love to get a set myself. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 seek out EXO you must..... .don't know if he has any more or not... Quote
Valkyrie Magnus Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Thanks for sharing. That is an awesome collection!! Quote
Wasabi-san Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 The pic of the subdued Skull One, sitting under the Macross flying overhead is pretty sweet. I too must seek the EXO. The mini-figs are pretty cool. Quote
Jasonc Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 We haven't had a new set of display pics in a long time. Thanks, Derek, for putting them up. Great stuff. I like when the displays aren't just categorized, but artfully displayed. Quote
MichaelS Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 I got a curio for christmas now I can display my stuff, just need to get stands so I can remove them from the boxes!! Quote
Kicker773 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Awesome!!!! Maybe next week I can display my newly acquired stuff.. I know I have to do some reorganizing and probably eliminate the poses and just do a stationary pose to make them all fit. =( Quote
MichaelS Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 It came from a local store call farmers furniture store. Quote
Shaorin Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) i used to have that same GUNDAM W wall scroll up in my room ten years ago. i still have it, packed away somewhere. GUNDAM WING never was one of the better series, IMO, but i had no internet a decade back, and only a single local-ish comic shop from which to satiate my Anime/Manga interests on anything approaching a regular basis, so beggars could hardly be choosers, i suppose... Kicker773 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Go watch Gundam Wing and Movie for that comment and come back and post your opinion afterwards =T Quote
