derex3592
As I begin the long, bittersweet process of starting to box up my Macross and other collections over the past 20 years or so in order to move forward to the next chapter of my life in a new home later next year, it becomes apparent to me just how RIGHT Yamato nailed the VF-1 with the 1/60V2 and subsequent releases from Arcadia. As I transform and box up the Bandai DX VF-1s and the Hi Metal Rs, yeh those have their place, but they all seem a bit.. I don't know... To fiddley for lack of a better term. The DX is just to big honestly. The HM-Rs are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but they have there down sides with the small size, all the part swapping and accessories. So let's just take a moment and remember the golden years of Yamato with just a few samples of never transformed VF-1 greatness that was for a time, and still might be, in my opinion anyway, the pinnacle of the Macross Valkyrie transformable toy collecting. And for those wondering, yes, the tan one is the holy grail VF-1J CF Commander's Ride with rainbow canopy in perfect condition. 😊

Thank you Yamato. Excellent trifecta!

I always tell new collectors who seem focused on DX not to overlook Yamato/Arcadia.

I love the Bandai DX VF-1, but yeah, I have to agree that they're kinda fiddley. There's completely unnecessary stuff that makes handling it more aggravating than it needed to be or could have been avoided, like the individually articulated head lasers on the 1S head. The lack of a locking mechanism for the arms in fighter mode is another.
Chronocidal
It's really hard to judge, I love them all. But yes, the folding leg fins and derpy landing gear doors are my personal pet peeves about the DX. Too fiddly in one case, just badly designed in the other. I did find a nice cheap fix for the VF-1S head lasers though. I just pulled all of the individual barrels off, and pressed them back into their holes over a single layer of scotch tape. It wrapped around the pegs just enough to give them enough sticking power so that pressing on any single head laser will move the whole turret on that side of the head, but I can still spread them out manually by holding the base. I never did pick up any of those three of the Yamatos, but I did collect pretty much all the rest, as well as a few Arcadia re-releases. As the collection grows though, they're starting to look like more of a burden than a joy, and I might wind up selling a few of the more common ones. I always think about it.. but I never get around to it. Edited September 25 by Chronocidal
PNW_Sweetie
A couple of posters suggested I post up my collection and so I finally relented this is my Macross/RT collection in my bonus space. A have a ton of different hobbies, from Macross toys, to vintage Tamiya RC’s, planes, 1:6 figures. Movie stuff, etc. I got my first Yamato 1/48 in 2009 while stationed overseas, but it’s only been within the last couple of years, that I’ve really added to my collection. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

I just did the cable management this past week after getting a 3rd IKEA Blaliden. I was getting irritated with all of the shelf wires running everywhere. I wasn't sure how the 1/48 Chogokins were gonna look in those with the stands in Battloid mode. It looks like you barely can fit the GBP Armored one in there. I'm guessing the Super or Strike won't fit, at least in the default shelf configuration? Edited October 25 by rsvictor1976

I took the GBP off the stand and he still is a tight fit, the Yamato 1/48 is a close also. But they do look amazing in the case.
Lolicon
After much delay, I started putting together the Delta shelf, which is the bottom shelf of my moducases. The bottom shelf is where Delta belongs. Ignore the YF-19 battroid and Mirage's aunt as they'll be moved soon. Have another set of 8 moducases coming in the near future to house the many other valks I still have yet to display, so I need to finish this setup soon. Hope Gokinplus restocks soon because I'm running out of stands.
Chronocidal
I love how clean those displays look, will be amazing seeing your layout once it's all done. Hopefully still room for Kairos in there somewhere as well.. though I feel like that one doesn't deserve the bottom shelf treatment. Quick question about the stands though, is it a trick of the light, or are the feet turning bright yellow?
Lolicon
The little rubbery feet on the stands have indeed yellowed over time. One entire row is more than enough to house all the Delta releases. The new cases will allow me to split SDF and DYRL and allow me to display the rest of Frontier and 7. Then there's the HMRs and 1/48 DX to add to that... I could rearrange everything into in-universe chronological order... but Delta would still end up on the bottom shelf.
