dapro Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Question for people who have the Ikea Detolf case. I know when you purchase new, you have to assemble it. My question is, when you need to transport it from one location to another after you assembled it, do you move it whole or disassemble it? I am about to pick one up from Craigslist and wondering is it easy to disassemble then reassemble or just move it as a whole unit. Thanks! Quote
505thAirborne Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That is some serious Destroid love there Kicker! If only they made the Phalanx & Spartan, your collection would be really heavily armed. If there was a 1/60 Monster... yeah, you'd have at least 2. Quote
master of macross Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 No custom Tomahawk but this thread is in need of some destroid love... ignore the glare I was too lazy to move the glass panels....well enjoy anyway... YOU ARE THE NUMBER 1 Quote
ah_t00t Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Thank you. No we should thank you for generously showing us your collection, it always triggered my "imagination" on how it looks when the whole valks or destroids are in a hanger Quote

I am about to pick one up from Craigslist and wondering is it easy to disassemble then reassemble or just move it as a whole unit. Thanks! I don't have any Detolfs but the other "furniture" that I have from IKEA is easy to assemble and dissemble. Because of the amount of glass a Detolf has I would advise to dissemble it otherwise you might risk breaking the glass when you transport it. Be careful large panels made out of glass can break easily so pay attention during transporting. Just make sure you don't lose the included tools. Quote
Duymon Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Detolfs are waaay heavier than they look. take it apart or else you'll break it for sure. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Dissassembling a Detolf would definitely be easier to transport. But as someone who has owned a ton of Ikea furniture over the years, I generally follow the rule of thumb that Ikea furniture is only good for about 3-4 dissassembly/reassemblies before it gets wobbly and starts falling apart. Oh, and the glass used in the Detolf is tempered safety glass. It can break, but it's much more resistant to breakage than a standard sheet of glass. Quote

Loop Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Hey guys, Detolfs are actually really easy to move while they are assembled. I moved a few of them twice so far over the years and did not have any problems. I just make sure to use moving blankets and I lay them on the back side with the door facing up. I did this in the back of a Denali without problems. Edited March 15, 2013 by Loop Quote
Kicker773 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Yah but for safety reasons if he is traveling by himself he should disassemble it. Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 if you are moving it by yourself, recommend you disassemble the detolf. if you have movers coming, they'll know how to move it whole without breaking it. Quote

Murphy Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Cool collection! I see that you removed the jaws from the vb-6 how did you do that? Quote
505thAirborne Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Got my VF-25S Armored in the other day. Its a V.1 but in fighter mode and the overkill Armor I love it just the way it is! My VE-1 & VT-1 came along for the ride. I blame "wm cheng" ( In the greatest way possible) for this purchase, his 1/72 Model kit was so mind blowing I was like I must have one and I'm glad I do. Quote
wm cheng Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Haha! I blame you guys... its the V2 Bandai Renewal VF-25S Armored that everyone was posting (that I missed out on - argh!) that prompted me to build the 1/72 scale model. Quote
KH355hamdi Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Nice collections. Where did you get Ozma VF-100 Armored? I don't have a massive collection, but I have a few nice pieces and a few customsimage.jpg Quote
Kicker773 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I think I will do that...keep the v2 Frontier valks in Battroid and the V1 in valk mode.. but I like the 30th Anniv and 29 in valk mode though..hmm.. Shaorin.. dust that thing... Quote
