sreichma
Don't know if anyone else has done this. I installed a UV filter on my detolfs because I don't have a room with no windows. You can see in this picture how everything is captured and reflected off the filter. If I shut the natural daylight LED's off in my room during the day, no sun makes it into the Detolfs. Very easy to install, just cut it to size, spray a mixture of soap and water on the glass and place it on. You can easily take them back off also if you want to remove them in order to clean the glass underneath, then just follow the same process to put them back on. Just wanted to share in case anyone was in my situation. Cost $27.99 on amazon. Edited January 28, 2013 by sreichma
Benson13
Can you show a closer pic?
NightCastle
I second Benson13's question. Also, interesting placement of the TV. Do yo have sunglasses for your viewers with the same coating so that the TV can be watched during the day? sreichma
Attached, you can see where the filter ends (yellow arrow). I think I should be ok with the TV, my desk is directly behind me in the photos (looking at both windows) and the blinds with the curtains capture the sun pretty well, so much so that they kinda glow. Reality is, I'd likley be looking at the painting more than the T.V. Edited January 28, 2013 by sreichma

Kicker773
Why not move two detolfs where the tv is.. and keep two with the tv in between on that wall.
Valkyrie Magnus
Porn will fix that issue LOL. LMAO it definitely will!
sreichma
I thought of that Kicker. With me, the room is really for my display and I'd rather have them all together, TV is secondary, if it even stays. I may put my books/journals/papers in between the windows and keep it a study. I really just need a millionaire boss with a penthouse and lab on a rolling semi like knight rider. The painting is kinda like porn.

Kicker773
or you could switch to curtains and keep one window covered at all times.

ErikElvis
I was thinking of adding a uv film directly to my windows. I believe you can get a clear that just blocks UV.
CoreyD
Just so you know, guys, UV filters provide some protection against fading, but light damage still happens. It's mostly a case of light intensity and duration, which is measured in lux/1 lumen per square meter. Light damage is cumulative and irreversible. This sort of stuff is my job, so more fyi reading http://www.conservationphysics.org/fading/light_i.php

wm cheng
Finally I can make my humble contribution. Spent nearly a full week dusting - man that crap is hard to get off after 10yrs! Then some time repairing some of the damage that occurred from the dusting (inevitably for models). I finally got them all under glass now - hopefully I won't have to dust again for a while. My collection has slowly shifted from models to toys as I have less and less time to build. Thanks for looking.

wm cheng
Speaking of the VF-4G -- one thing on one shelf, can't beat the way that looks... I wished I had the room for that kind of display, the single item per shelf does give it an air of museum quality.

wm cheng
This is perfect fit for the SV-51 http://www.hlj.com/product/YLSPPC-KN13 This is a perfect fit for the Bandai Andromeda http://www.hlj.com/product/YLSPPC-KN14CL The only thing is that the clear walls are flexible vinyl, but they hold their shape really well - but for some reason (maybe during shipping which is very expensive to ship an oversized flat parcel to North America only via EMS) they became statically charged and now attracts a lot of dust to the clear walls. I have to try to find some sort of static spray to treat them, but I suppose they will loose their charge over time.
