Ignacio Ocamica Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 That GBP looks almost like an exact copy of the Yamato 1/60 ver 1. Quote

jenius Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Guardian mode looks derpy. I like the bigger head in battroid mode but it probably causes issues in fighter/Guardian. Yes, I'm using RT terms 'cause it's KC. Hey, where's the GBP for my super deformed VF-1J? That's what I want from KC. Quote
Lorindor Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Doesn't this discussion belong in another thread? KitzConcept is an official licensee to Harmony Gold these days. Quote

Valkyrie Driver Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 So, aren't all the Valks we import technically grey market? The goods themselves are not illegal, but since Harmony Gold claims to own the distribution rights to all of Macross in the US, there is not official legal import of Macross Toys. I mean it is kind of the same deal as the Airsoft community saw for the longest time, since Glock didn't release it's Copyright for replica pistols until very recently, you had to import from Japan or Taiwan or Hong Kong, and then you were violating copyright laws doing so. I mean, I've seen Russian Knock-offs, and I've seen some Chinese knock-offs, but those looked like hot garbage. Are we talking about so-called "Premium Knock-offs"? Quote

jvmacross Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 They remind me of the recent PT Bandai 1/72 kit mold.... The best I can say about these 1/72's is that at least they are not just another crummy SD Valk.... Not writing these off just yet....I don't mind a modern take on the HCM VF-1, as long as it is done well.... Quote

Was comparing KC to the nearest Robotech toy company which is toynami price-wise. I would like to see how well its made of course, but with tampo, panel lined and lights KC is certainly pushing the valk toy envelop a lil bit more. Quote

I'm not overly enthused at the idea of third party toys in Macross. I'm just not sure of the quality, so I'll buy Bandai and Yamato/Arcadia. I know that Yamato is defunct now, but they're still sort of available. Quote

They always seem to price close to their Japanese competitors. their sd is $79-89 . A 1/72 diecast robotech f-14 is $139. this will be bigger than the hi-metal and smaller than Arcadia/yamato. I see this costing more than hi-metal r and cheaper than Arcadia/Yamato. Quote
seti88 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I was hoping that it would be approx ~100usd. The F-14 doesn't transform of course, but i see your point on scale and comparisons. Quote

jenius Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 That 1/72 toy actually seems pretty promising... though I'm not a fan of the lights. Looks like maybe no extending foot gimmick. Quote
Sanity is Optional Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I'd be interested to see an actual production variant, the one in the pictures looks to be hand-painted (fairly thickly at that), which makes me worry about how the paint will hold up under transformation. Quote

ScrambledValkyrie Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Well, since it's a wireless speaker, you could always play Mari Ijima through it instead. I'm intrigued by the VF-1S prototype, and will also be interested to see how it comes out in production, especially with the FAST packs. Quote

Chronocidal Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 That 1/72 valk looks kinda like a mashup of a Hasegawa kit with the Bandai transforming one, but it looks much better than the Bandai one. The lights are killing me though. One of these days, I hope someone has the inspiration to slap Tommy Yune upside the head with an IRST pod so he can finally see that SENSORS DO NOT EMIT LIGHT YOU DUNDERHEAD. The lights in the fast pack nozzles have the potential to look pretty nice though. I dunno, call me intrigued. If they're readily available, and less than a 1/60th, I might bite. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Funny how these guys are able to get the color of the TV reaction missiles right....something neither Yamato, Arcadia or Bandai have yet to do on their toys... Quote
derex3592 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I was gonna say that earlier, but didn't....I gotta say, I wish the Hi Metal R's were this detailed out of the box. I don't need the light up feature though.... Quote

Convectuoso Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I may be wrong, but it seems to me that KC pays a lot of attention to detail. They just tend to exaggerate sometimes Quote
no3Ljm Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Hmmm. I wonder. What if they price this as same as HM-R's? Quote
