lmtsuper Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I had this VF19 on my shelf for quite some time, just noticed there is some glue on the nose cone, does anyone know how to fix it? I've never thought about my first post is about QC issues...... Quote
barurutor Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 acetone's been known to work with cyanoacrylate/superglue, but i don't know the effect it would have on the VF-19 plastic or tampo. Quote
Chronocidal Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Acetone will probably also dissolve the plastic, so I wouldn't use that. Honestly.. you might be able to sand down the lump and polish it out? But I actually think the likelihood may be that doing anything at all to it will only make it more noticeable than it already is. Cowboy17 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 i would just leave it. Any attempt to remove it will likely end up blemishing the area around it. Quote
jenius Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Did you try using a nail and just popping it off? Quote
lmtsuper Posted November 19, 2016 Author Posted November 19, 2016 Did you try using a nail and just popping it off? I tried, it didn't pop off. Thanks everybody, I guess there is nothing I can do to fix it, I will just leave it like this. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I wouldn't use raw acetone, but would certainly try acetone-based nail polish remover. Don't soak the blob----apply remover to a q-tip. Soak q-tip, remove the excess----more than damp, but not wet. Swab/rub over glue. Repeat. It'll take a while, but should work, with no damage to the plastic. Now, the little black stencil wording is almost certain to be removed in the process unless you mask I it and are hyper-careful with where you swab---but IMHO that's a small price to pay to get rid of the blob. (And the black sensor area is likely to lose some paint---but since it's recessed and black, that bit should be easy to repaint and look factory-fresh). Quote
takatoys Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Try heating that part with a hair dryer and see if it melts or become soft. Then try to shave it carefully with an Xacto knife. Quote
