Here's a few toys for a size juxtaposition.

Nice display, SuperDimensionalDave. The SDF-1 Is pretty adorable all chibified.:D

So, reading through the comments, I suppose it was inevitable that KC's VF-1 would be compared to the Joke Machines. Googled them, and was pleasantly surprised by how well done those old toys actually were. They surpass the KC in terms of GERWALK poseability, achieving a pretty accurate GERWALK while keeping the intakes in their proper place. And landing gear- no small feat on a toy this size, what with all its compressed dimensions. I like the overall shaping of the KC version better, esp that nice rounded nose (I think they got carried away when they made the little protuberances where the legs mount in battroid on the JKs. They just don't look nice.), and I like how KC made the chest piece swivel over to cover the aft section of the canopy, which is accurate and a nice touch. It's floppy without the cheater plate installed, though- could have been done better, IMO.

After looking through various images of the Joke machines in comparison to the KC SD VF-1, the Joke machine definitely did a number of things better articulation wise and just looks like a more durable and fun toy. the KC makes a really nice display piece, but it's a bit floppy in places without the extra chest and neck plates installed. Moreover, it's limited in its articulation and, at least on mine, a proper GERWALK can't be achieved without untabbing the intakes . So, yeah, I kinda agree that they could have just updated the look of the old JMs and those would have been some great toys.   Maybe Bandai will do that at some point.

The original Hi-Comical Model concept "egg valkyrie" was designed by Kawamori himself...thus the instant street cred......I believe there is an article about it in the DYRL Preview book from back in the day....here are the lineart pics from the article...

Good info- thanks, JVMacross. I noticed that the JM was much 'eggier' than KC's, which adheres closer to the Valkyrie's actual shape. But, like you said, Kawamori himself designed it, and it doesn't get more canon than that. Cool.

Thanks for this. Now you made me rethink of getting one to display with Makurosu. ^_^

By the way, great collection. ;)

I kinda wished they made a TV version of the MM Makuros (however it was spelled) cause it would fit the theme of my Pachislo machine more.. lol

Seriously my plan was still to display some of these KC SD Valks on the Pachi.. probably most prominently the early TV series valks as you see them in the cut scenes.    But I only have so much real estate on top of a Pachislo machine.. so I could see 2 or 3 tops..  I will need to find someplace else for the others.

Space, or lack therof, in most cases. The age old conundrum of collectors. Between Transformers, Macross, and lots of LEGO, I'm a chronic sufferer of no-space syndrome.;)

On topic, it's heresy, but I've never really been a big fan of the Macross' design, but that chibi version appeals to me. Cool that they chibbed it out and still made it transform. Not sure if 'chibbed' is a word, but I'm going with it.

You've convinced me, guys. I put an order for the SD VF-1J "Rick Hunter" version, which is on sale for just 48.00 at KC's website.

Shoulda just paid the $60 to get the Packs- worth it, IMHO. But, check out the base figure and see if it appeals; if you like chibi figures, I think you'll dig it. Too, if you like it and decide to get the Packs, I think they sell them separately. Anyway, hope you like it. I'm liking my VF-1J.:good:

I'll let you know. I may get Max & Milia with the packs, but I'm not used to Hikaru with the Packs, so it looked like a good idea to get it without them, given the price.

Are they still selling the Vermillion squad bundle?  (Max 1A, Kakazaki 1A, Hikaru 1J) in a pack?  The sale price was pretty good.

I did also have them add the Super Armor on their site just recently.. so it is there.

I bought the Max and Millia pair and a VF-1J Hikaru.  If they want me to buy any more then they better start cranking out the DYRL variants.  Or release that GBP-1S armor already.  Preferrably in a stand alone armor set.

I would so, so love it if they made the SD VF-4 from Kawamori's Macross Design Works; I don't know how they'd justify it as Robotech, but it'd still be cool.

Note of caution, if you Google SD VF-4 make sure little kids aren't around, as a bunch of porn images came up in the image search. But no image of the SD VF-4. The internet is weird.

Yes, they're still selling that

Just got the CF 1A with fast packs in the mail today.

What amuses me is the big logo that says Limited Edition...  why do I have a hard time buying into that.

But regardless..

All that is left now is to find a Fokker 1S at some point.

I wish they'd do a VE-1 Elint Seeker- that'd be cool.

Congrats on your limited edition;). Fun little toys.

@jvmacross  Nope can't say I did.     I saw that on the bay when I was looking up the Fokker 1S.   I may need to send an email and inquire about it.

Ok working on the Officer 1J,  it might be happening... just not for ebay pricing.. fingers crossed.

and the windup Minmay is kinda creepy

How long does it take Kitz Concept to ship out orders? I pretty much ordered 1 of everything over the past week. All three of my orders still say processing. I'd like to hurry up and get one of these figures in hand so I know if I'm going to need to track down the brown VF-1J and a VF-1S.

Posted (edited)

@Crimson9  I'd probably toss them an email.    My last order was for (4) Super Armor sets which shipped on 1/31 and were delivered on 2/6.

Update:   I just got an CF Officer 1J on order..   will post pictures once it comes in..

waiting on the GBP and Fokker 1S reissue.

Looks like my 3 orders shipped today. Did you get the Officer 1J off ebay, or did you find one for a better price somewhere?

I got the Roy Fokker SD and the legs snapped apart at the pins the moment I tried to move them when transforming it into Gerwalk mode. No one else has had this problem?

Which version?  The licensed Robotech or the initial bootleg?

I bought mine from BigBadToyStore so it better not have been a bootleg.

Got a pic?

I gotta admit I was so pissed at the toy, and this is a first for me, I actually threw it out.

Can you describe which pins? I plan on updating my review when my others arrive and may want to examine them as a potential durability issue.

I'll do my best. This was actually a few months ago. I am talking about the pins that connect the upper part of hips and lower parts of the hips. The joint at the hip that allows the legs to lower in place for Gerwalk mode. I went to lower the leg down into its Gerwalk configuration. This joint if I remember correctly is held together with a metal pin running through it, and it was the outer hinge part that snapped off on both sides of where the ends of the metal pin held them in place, supposedly allowing it to swing down. Does that make sense? Since no one else is ranting about the frailty of this part I suspect I might have just gotten a defective one. Still its an area to watch out  for as the plastic struck me as pretty thin in this area of the figure. Maybe I'll give this figure another shot since no one else seems to have had this problem.

hmmm,  interesting it's a shame you did toss the toy.. if you would have emailed Kitz Concepts Customer Service.. they probably would have hooked you up.. they have been very helpful.

I'm also curious as  I didn't really pull these out and "play" with them but they seemed to be no more of less fragile then anything else on the market... and definately no Yamato Mac+ VF11B broken hip fragility (lol dated myself on that one).

And I'm also kinda skeptical.. mostly because MW loves to throw shade at all things Robotech..   HG may deserve it, but these guys do not.

Sadly I didn't think to call the support line. I was just so disgusted with the fact that less than ten minutes after opening mine up it broke.  I'm perfectly willing to accept I got a dud. Only one of the two legs broke. As I said I am willing to give these guys a 2nd shot since no one else is reporting theirs breaking.
