Mazinger Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Now that more than a few of us have 1/100 items, I wonder if people have started putting together dioramas for them, in particular Macross city scenes. I'm purposely *SKIPPING* the Bandai Armored Factory. Part of my inspiration is member ron5864's awesome 1/60 scale scene: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=gallery&album=56 So: What are you guys working on for your 1/100's? Do you know of paper craft versions of buildings such as the Nyan Nyan restaurant? Quote
Mazinger Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 Well, in case anyone else might have the same question or intent, I have found a few HO model train scale buildings, about 1:87, which could look good in a macross city diorama: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Outland-Models-Train-Railway-Modern-Tall-Business-Building-Office-HO-OO-Scale/391423936277 There is another scale, called TT scale, about 1/120, that is not widely used, but I think it would be better to err on larger side since very often in the SDF TV series, valks were shown to be almost smaller than the buildings around them. hachi Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Nice thread guys! I'm also looking forward to making a diorama of my own one day. Quote
Mazinger Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 Here's an HO scale building, that might make a good hospital, seems a bit pricey though at $51: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-87-Model-Train-ho-scale-3-floor-conference-room-diy-kit-architectural-model-material-sand/32727307694.html And some knock-off mechanical chain base options which seem to be popular for hangar building. This particular seller is asking $24. I've found as low as $20 though. : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CG-Freely-combined-Gundam-Hangar-Domain-base-scenario-building-Mechanical-chain-base-action-figure-model/32739314868.html I haven't bought any of this stuff yet, and so can't vouch for the quality, but for the KO base parts there are reviews online. The most common complaint seems to be fit related. Google around and you should find comparisons to the original Kotobuyika parts. Quote
Mazinger Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 As mentioned on the HiMetal-R thread, here is a link to Outland Models , which is the same seller as the examples I had previously posted above. Quote
MechTech Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 If you want to go accurate with people, Preiser makes some of the best 1/100 molded figures: https://www.reynaulds.com/catalog/dept_361.aspx They have a set of orange jumpsuit mechanics - perfect for Macross dioramas. I bought the WHOLE set of 1/200 figures and was blown away by the tiny details. You even get cows! - MT Quote

It helps that they are already painted!!! Quote
