areaseven Posted November 22, 2016 Author Posted November 22, 2016 Get used to this song, as your kids will probably drop "Let It Go" for it. Quote
Mommar Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Get used to this song, as your kids will probably drop "Let It Go" for it. Nah, this song isn't nearly as catchy. The chorus isn't as simple as Let it Go which is important for little kids to follow. They're not dropping it. Quote
areaseven Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Yup, Disney's collecting another Oscar for Best Animated Short Film next year. Here's the opening act for Moana. Quote
Mazinger Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Yup, Disney's collecting another Oscar for Best Animated Short Film next year. Here's the opening act for Moana. Wow, now we get trailers for shorts!? How long before we get teasers for the trailers for shorts? Looks good regardless. Quote
Dobber Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Just saw Moana with the family, it was fantastic! Still liked Zootopia better for this year but it was still great! This year has been great for animated movies. Chris Quote
kalvasflam Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Nah, this song isn't nearly as catchy. The chorus isn't as simple as Let it Go which is important for little kids to follow. They're not dropping it. Agree, it doesn't have the right beat. When you hear "Let it go" the gut reaction is you want to hear it again immediately. This one, not quite as much, this is like the Rapunzel song, whatever that was. Not as good as "Let it go" This from the adult perspective, we'll see what my 7 yr old say when she sees it this weekend. Quote
areaseven Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 What an amazing film. Disney Animation takes what they learned from Finding Nemo and turns the ocean into the film's standout character. Aside from that, we have excellent voice performances by Dwayne Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho. Jermaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) also steals the show as the giant crab Tamatoa with his David Bowie-inspired number "Shiny". The music shouldn't be compared to Frozen, as it's like comparing Scandinavia with the South Pacific - totally different climates. With that said, the score by Mark Mancina (Tarzan, Training Day) and songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda capture the feel of the ocean tropics without going over the top like the Pirates of the Caribbean films. As for the opening act Inner Workings, it's not as memorable as Paperman or Feast, but there's no doubt it'll bag the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film next year. Overall, Moana is another Disney film worth adding to your Blu-ray collection. Quote
areaseven Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Some countries have the film's theme song performed by their local artists. The question is: Who sang it better? Alessia Cara (USA) Janella Salvador (Philippines) Lira (South Africa) Edited December 3, 2016 by areaseven Quote
jvmacross Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Just watched this with the family over the weekend. A quality Disney animated film, just nothing memorable....definitely no Frozen. Disney can't expect every one of their animated films to be a Frozen-like phenomenon I suppose. They are making enough cash on their Marvel and Star Wars films that they should just concentrate on making quality animated films with a good story. Quote
kalvasflam Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 The honest trailer was better than the real movie, I like the idea of Disney Princess Avengers.... ha ha, it'll catch all the right demographics. Quote

kalvasflam Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Just a little off topic, but honest trailers seem to be on a two week Disney Princess run, this week, it's Belle. Â (not a real princess in the movie per se) Â Frigging Hilarious. Â Â Â Â Quote
