Thom Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I like that! That's definitely a design I can see being used in the real world! Quote
NZEOD Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 (edited) except the problem with every heavy armour fiction vessel aside from the Battlestars is the prominent bridge. Is should be buried deep inside to avoid simply being "headshot". The new BSG version Battlestars, the Basestars and the Battletech Clan Warships all has their command centres buried deep. WAY more realistic and practical. Edited May 30, 2016 by NZEOD Quote
Goodman Models Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 Very interesting! As a space destroyer, this class would be lightly armoured and nimble with a lot of firepower. Didn't last long in the show! Quote
Roy Focker Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Oberth was visually a cool design but the U.N. Spacy clearly under estimated who they were fighting. Even the Macross was outclassed by the Zentradi. If he wanted to Vrlitwhai could have destroyed the Macross, disable the entire space fleet and effectively conquer Earth by the 3rd episode. The Macross only survived for so long because the Zentradi were both curious and afraid of it. Quote
Goodman Models Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 Smoke trail test. Will be double the length and more yellow and white at the top. Quote
MechTech Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 That looks cool! Are you adding LEDs to the missile trails? - MT Quote

NZEOD Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Further down the smoke have a yellow and then an orange LED... Lower CCD values perhaps Quote
Goodman Models Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 That's neat, I never thought of that! But she's done - I'm moving this to the finished category! Quote

Although, perhaps the bridge sail is merely for sensors and observation. The actual bridge could still be buried deep. And nice work on that destroyer. Also like how the smoke is not trailing, as it would in an atmosphere. It should be jetting out straight, unless the ship changes its trajectory or velocity. Edited June 5, 2016 by Thom Quote
slide Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) In modern ships: The bridge is where one steers/controls the ship. The CIC (Combat Information Center) is where the radar/weapons systems and tactical info all gets displayed, and acted upon. In NuBSG navigating and fighting the ship is all done from the CIC itself.
