Sanity is Optional Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 If I liked Delta I'd be all over this. Now give me a Sheryl VF-25/YF-29 already! Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 The figures are mostly just whatever, I actually just like building the valks themselves, since they're about 1/80 scale, and display really well with HMR valks. Quote

While I appreciate what's going on here, and I've even been tempted, I don't see myself building and displaying these. I know many are loving these. And i can see why. Because of the Valkyries? Quote

Urashiman Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I wasn’t too invested with the VFG stuff… but one was living rent free in my brain and I purchased it. Man… it is so awesome. So excited and also a bit scared. Oh boy (or Oh girl?) The box is so F****** huge! Hasegawa Queadluun Rau fits into this. It is probably the volume of 4 Hasegawa VF-1 boxes. It almost broke the VF-1 strike Valk 1/48 record. I went through the manual already and it goes on for eternity. My fingers tingle from excitement. Quote

That kit and the VF-25G Klan Klang version are the only two kits i really care for. Looks fun. Quote
Chronocidal Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 The VB-6 is a great kit, probably the best one they've done. Tons of good posability, and a nearly perfect transformation, even if you completely ignore the figure (I don't think I even built it ) There should be a few pics of my build earlier in the thread. I was really impressed that they even managed to give it partially retracting landing gear in shuttle mode. Quote

Graham Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 So, I just picked up the VFG VF-31A from one of the hobby shops near my office It's my Christmas present to myself and gonna be my Christmas holiday project build. I've never attempted one of these VFG kits before. Quote
Urashiman Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 @Graham cool! Have fun! I definitely had fun with my VB-6. Quote
Graham Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Finished building the VFG VF-31A fighter mode. Applied the stickers, a few decals, panel lined it and sprayed on some Mr. Hobby matt top coat. Haven't built the cat girl or the parts for Gerwalk mode or Battroid mode yet. Ignore the stand in the photos, just using it temporarily for the photos.😅 Quote
Chronocidal Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I love how well the standard Bandai stands work with these, and they're pretty much the perfect size to slip in an HMR display, so long as you just want the fighter modes. Really, these are probably some of the most accessible VF fighter kits around, since they're much simpler builds than the Hasegawa kits. I wish Bandai had continued with their 1/100 line of VF-25s, but they only put out a few in that scale before jumping to their HG line of partsformers. Quote
Graham Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I think I'm gonna buy the VF-31D Skuld next, as I really like the VF-1D inspired colour scheme. Quote

Arthurius Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM (edited) Do you guys recommend one of these, and if so, if only one, for someone that has no connection to characters, which and why? I stopped watching Macross after Frontier, so i am not up to speed on anything released after that, even Frontier only saw the original show and 1 movie of it, not sure if it continued... I just want to make separate Jet Mode and the Girl separate too. I think I like the VFG VF-31 in the Yellow or Blue the most, followed by the red. Not sure if they are all the same quality and good looks. Thanks in advance. Edited Wednesday at 07:29 PM by Arthurius Quote
Chronocidal Posted Wednesday at 07:29 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:29 PM Yeah, the blue VF-31A above is a great option, either that one or the orange and tan "Skuld" variant. It's just a great design that doesn't get enough attention. If you want something fancier that transforms though, the VB-6 kit is an amazing build, and gives you a fully transforming destroid shuttle that doesn't need the figure at all to function. It's a fully functional 3-mode valk, the figure can just ride it. Quote

If you're getting any of the newer releases or the "SP" re-releases of the old ones, they're largely the same. The original non-"SP" release of the VF-31A Kairos (and its sibling, the VF-31D Skuld), had wings that lacked hard points; some prefer that look over the "SP" re-release, which replaces those parts and includes new accessory drone pieces to fit into said hard points. That's about the only major difference to note IIRC. Quote

It looks rather impressive, even though I’m not into the girl kit thing Quote
