Urashiman Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Hey everyone, I am not really sure if this fits in here, but the "off-topic" area should be good as this probably works under Science Fiction. Yesterday the trailer for the newest installment of Call of Duty was released. Except for the first Black Ops, Call of Duty was mostly a let down for me since Modern Warefare. Somehow this trailer made me interested again. Spoilers ahead if you didn't watch the trailer yet: Call of Duty goes to Space! It got: -First Person Space Battle -Mechs and Robots -Forward Swept wings space fighters! (YF-19 very much) So everything I like. I think I am going to try this one. Not on day one, but when it is on a Steam Sale or something else. What are your thoughts? PS: I know CoD is always something people start to argue about, so please be nice to each other. Quote
Dynaman Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I gave up FPSs years ago. Nothing new here. Perhaps they will get rid of the gratuitous swearing in this one though. Quote
Big s Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Same ol cod. Just be ready to kill the last boss with your pistol in slo mo. Quote
UN Spacy Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Meh...haven't played a COD since MW2...all the same ish. Kinda funny that this has more space action than all of The Force Awakens. Quote
spanner Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Looks alright I guess but it certainly doesn't impress me at all. My son is already hassling me to pre-order it for him. Quote
Silverstreak Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Looks pretty cool. The let down as always with these games will be the token single player campaign. I care not for multiplayer. Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) They want us to pay $80 for the game we don't want (Infinite War) just so we get the game we do want (Modern Warfare Remasterd)? No, screw these people. They've milked this franchise to death, they make promises and break them, and they abuse their fanbase. I'm done with this nonsense. Plenty of other multiplayer games out there. Edited May 4, 2016 by Duke Togo Quote
TangledThorns Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 I'm more excited about the upcoming Battlefield announcement expected soon. Loved those games since BF1942's Desert Combat mod. Quote
Einherjar Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Halo Reach also had space fighter combat for less than one chapter. Quote
myk Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 COD was fun for me in Modern Warfare 1-3, and the first two Black Ops as they featured current, modern weapons, vehicles, and plausible plot lines. Once they started doing funky, quasi-futuristic weapons, Exo suits, battle mechs, flying around all that stupid stuff I completely lost interest in the franchise... Quote
areaseven Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Infinite War? Does this mean you have to fight Thanos and prevent him from collecting all six stones? Quote
Duymon Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 *yawn*, another Futuristic CoD. Thankfully Ghost Recon is going back to modern-day and will focus on the single player experience. Just hope Ubi doesn't screw it up horribly like they have RB6 Siege and Division Quote
Big s Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Yeah the division is a real mess. The first incursion had too many glitches, we lost 3 of our team falling through the ground, then retried it later and my character somehow while dodging a grenade I rolled behind a solid wall and couldn't get out. I didn't feel bad about cheesing that after being cheesed by the game itself. It was like revenge. Quote
anime52k8 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I don't understand why people are so obsessed with "real world" modern combat. I mean, how do you go back to shooting stereotypical middle eastern terrorists from behind chest high walls once you've been given a jetpack and psy powers to kill people with. Quote
Einherjar Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Turns out we never had to do anything all those years ago. The gameplay was that "innovative." Quote

Boots on the ground is fun and reliable and less prone falling victim to janky mechanics and netcode. Also, if I wanted to play Halo/Destiny/whatever, I would be. Quote
azrael Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Boots on the ground is fun and reliable and less prone falling victim to janky mechanics and netcode. Did you play Battlefield? Quote
Duke Togo Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Did you play Battlefield? No, but I've played every Call of Duty since Modern Warfare. The hit detection issues in AW and BO3 were real. Quote
Dynaman Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 No, but I've played every Call of Duty since Modern Warfare. The hit detection issues in AW and BO3 were real. Hit detection in all of the BF titles from BF 1942 on is terrible. I don't know how the valve titles (Counterstrike, Day of Defeat) got it so correct while these were bad. Then I had some people say it was due to the game modelling physics - nearly laughed my posterior off. I've not played anything since the original MW so maybe they corrected it after that. Quote
anime52k8 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 (edited) I hate Cod players, Battlefield players, gamers in general, gaming journalists and the entire gaming industry as a whole right now. http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2016/05/09/all-this-crying-over-call-of-duty-infinite-warfare-is-absurd/#1e603f5419c9 Edited May 9, 2016 by anime52k8 Quote
dizman Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 People are always looking for the next game to hate, CoD Infinite was just the wrong release at the wrong time (at least it wasn't pushing Kevin Spacey as it's big selling point). I'm sure it'll sell like crazy just like the other CoD games. Oh Forbes isn't too great a game journalism site either. Quote
spanner Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) on the other hand, Battlefield 1 looks ok.. ahh crap did I just say that out loud!? Edited May 10, 2016 by spanner Quote
azrael Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 on the other hand, Battlefield 1 looks ok.. ahh crap did I just say that out loud!? BF3 and BF4 has such lousy launches (OK, BF4 has the absolute worst release day problems of all the main BF titles) that I think DICE can't do worst. Right? Quote

Actually, I don't like the franchise because there is very little innovation between game to game and the developers know it. They have to tack on zombies, planes, spaceships, mechsuits, etc. with patriotism to cover the fact players are just pointing and shooting a seemingly endless wave of bad guys from point A to B every year. I don't think I've gone through the campaign since BO1. That is most definitely not where the value lies. If you aren't playing the multiplayer you aren't getting your money's worth. At all. Quote

Those are all valid complaints that should have been taken care of a few games ago, I'm referencing the people that jump on a hate bandwagon just because they need something new to hate. Once the gameplay videos of Battlefield 1 come out and don't look as fast paced as the trailer, those people will turn right around and claim Battlefield is dead yadayada. Quote
Einherjar Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 That's social media's problem for creating so many bland narcissists. Quote

None of the buggy BS they've been releasing the past several years has caused this, why would a WWI shooter cause it? Battlefield bros love their Battlefield. Quote
