big F Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) I have been offered a wonderfest exclusive kit to make a GBP battroid from a Hasegawa 1/72 kit. While it's not a cheap purchase I have always wanted one in that scale and since Hasegawa seem in capable of releasing one, I've considered kit bashing an Ari one but again I don't really want to destroy my minty inbox one I have. So before I potentially chuck a good chunk of this week's pay check at something that may be utter junk, has anyone got and built one ? Edited April 13, 2016 by big F Quote
big F Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Well the one I was after fell through but as luck would have it another has turned up. Buying it as its a good price. One less Macross kit on my list to get. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Those things are super rare, good luck!!!! I think you mean this one. I've only seen this picture, never a built one. If you can get one, do it!! Quote
big F Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Yeah that's the one, its been top of my wish list along with a 1/72 VF-17 in fighter mode since the early 2ks when I got back into Macross properly. Quote
MechTech Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I'd be hiding quid all over the house to save for this one too (especially if it was my scale)! - MT Quote
derex3592 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 That is one awesome looking kit..I've never seen one. Quote
Dax415 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 too bad it's not something we could reissue, i know i'd like to get a kit of this as do several others here in multiples. Quote
big F Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 too bad it's not something we could reissue, i know i'd like to get a kit of this as do several others here in multiples. How do the rules of that go. It's not been produced in years, never was in great amounts anyway. Any recasts would probably of limited interest etc. I was thinking the other day as I have a non Macross kit that hasn't been made at a factory in about 30 years, and eBay prices are just plain stupid for it now. I was going to cast it just so I could build one. There is around 25 parts so it would not be to hard, but then do I make more and sell them? The manufacturer I'm sure is no more but where do you stand with that? Quote
kajnrig Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) Weren't these third-party garage kits anyway? Recasting an "unofficial" kit is done all the time in the Gundam world. I don't see why it'd be different here. Even recasts of official B-Club kits are done fairly regularly with no legal risk. Edited April 19, 2016 by kajnrig Quote
big F Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 The thing I was looking at casting is a property owned by the Mouse so although they have done absolutely nothing with it since 1980. I'm guessing I would attract a cessation order if I made any more than a few available. Unless I do what the captain and most of the third party TF makers did and give it a silly name. Quote
coronadlux Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Recasting has been frowned upon and it goes against forum rules. That being said, I'd be in for one if someone finds the rare kit and manages to recast the recast (whatever the case may be) Business like that would probably need to be done outside the forum since I'm sure there's a few "intellectual property) trolls lurking around. Cesar Enrique Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I don't care about rules, I'm in for 2 "reissue" kits of it. Quote
kajnrig Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Recasting has been frowned upon and it goes against forum rules. Whoops, didn't catch that first time around. Well, good to know, and even more congrats then to big F for snatching it when you did. Quote
big F Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Well it turned up today, not going to be building it anytime soon due to having way to much to do in my spare time, oh and the little issue of not having a workshop to work in. Suffice to say it is a thing of beauty. Quote
