I find it surprising how it could still become Gerwalk by reusing parts from the other two modes, given the obscurity of the transformation.

That shot seems to make the difference in canopies fairly obvious. I can't say I'd noticed that before.

The 31C has the black paint around it and the 31A has an extra clear part in front.

Differences from the pic should be a combination of paint and angle of POV.

If compared from the side, the canopies are essentially the same.

Well, the Yellow 13 kit definitely has "ASU-DECA" decals, despite me looking all over for something that matched the example pics. Made one slice with an X-acto and thought "that's odd"...

i think those are tarmac bases. what chyll2 might be asking about are the carrier decks with blast shields.

i'm not aware of the gimix line having released any carrier decks, though i hope they will.

carrier decks in 1/144 are rather hard to come by, more so those with blast shields.

Yeah.. I was referring to the one with blast shield. It was shared back in the vf-1 tomytec thread. Well, I already found my answer that it is no longer in production. Irc, that is from Aviation Fighters.

So from what I can gather has been discussed here, the Tomytec offering of the "2 kits in 1 box" which is essentially a battroid + fighter which then lets you parts-form the gerwalk is looking to be interchangeable even after initial assembly/glue?

Loving the look of these kits, they are very small but the level of detail included seems very interesting and a great setpiece once its built up.

Also pre-ordered the 1/72 kits

They come with T-bar tabs on the body, so if you do not add adhesive to the modular blocks, they should be reconfigurable (in the VF-1 solution).

The tomytec VF31's arent as clearly shown on the modular blocks, but would think that they should follow the same method.

Behind the 31J and 31A? Judging by what I can see of the placard, that's another VF-31. (I can barely make out the top of "VF-31 Siegfried.") Maybe the 31J Gerwalk box? Or the 31C? Whichever is Mirage's. Maybe a 31J/31C two-fer?

I'm sure the plan is to have a battroid kit to go with the fighter to make the gerwalk on all releases otherwise they probably wouldn't do the fighter in the first place.

I assume this is TomyTec's first incursion into Macross first with the VF-1 kits and now these? I can't help but think this is going to be a smashing success for them which would open the door to future releases from the Macross franchise. *fingers crossed*
