no3Ljm Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Did Bandai included a canopy shutters accessory part to go along with the helmet-less Isamu with this release? The Full Set from what I remember didn’t have it. Thanks. Quote
Reïvaj Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 It hasn't been mentioned, so I guess not. It could have been a nice touch. Quote

borgified Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Two versions of the same plane but with two very high demanding pilots at the helm. So who’s going to drive the other pilot into insanity first? 🤣 Quote

It would be pretty easy to make a 3D print of though, just a solid plastic printed copy of the existing canopy, with the paneling detail, and a fixed tab to slot into where the hinge mounts. Quote
ArchieNov Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 I wanted to see if they had corrected the "Sinsei Industry" tampo on the recent release. Seems like the typo is still present. If they had fixed it, I might have gotten this copy. Quote

Isn't it great that Yang had the foresight to predict that the 19 pilot might need to eject the rear seat occupant in case he tried to kill the pilot mid-flight, and included a means to reseal the cockpit? Lockheed Martin should be taking notes. Quote

CeramicDragon Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I got my reissue from Amazon. Feels weird to get it domestically like this. Quote
twich Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Finally got home from vacation and got to open my acquisitions. The VF-171EX Armored was stressful moving the legs to get the armor on, I was so worried the legs would snap off it I moved it wrong! Love the new YF-19! I don’t need the missiles or fast packs, but that is my preference, I already have the VF-19 Advance. The Tiny Sessions VF-25F Tamashii Store exclusive is my first Tiny Session toy, and I think it is really nice, though I will have to play around with it more to see if it is $50 nice. Twich Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Got a re-issue from Amazon as well. I probably should have expected this given the track record of their releases since 2020, but the QC is kinda lacking compared to the VF-19 Adv and the original YF-19 full set release. Just to list a few things: The bottom panel of the gullet likes to keep popping out. The head "cap" fits extremely loosely on the head, with basically no friction, and turning the figure upside down in battroid mode is enough for it to fall right off. The head unit itself has a wobbly neck joint that won't stay extended. The back half of the canopy wiggles around very loosely On a positive note, the wings on the metal hinges are tighter than on the two 19 Advance and the YF-19 releases that I have. Those had very floppy loose wings and this one doesn't. So one thing was improved at least. Quote

The Full Set from what I remember didn’t have it. Thanks. Just to confirm, no, there is no cover for this. I also have the loose head cap and one of my ankles doesn't want to stay extended either. Jenius' transformation guide mentions the bottom panel thing so that may have been an issue on previous releases. I remember battroid locking together pretty securely on my VF-19Advance, but the head/shoulders pop off from the nose cone super easily on my YF-19. They're easy to pop back in, but it's pretty annoying. Things generally seem to either be "too tight" or "too loose." The joints that are tight are crazy difficult to move out of place; the wing roots and the nose cone particularly gave me a lot of trouble. It was generally was a lot less fun to transform than the VF-19. Quote
Shizuka the Cat Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Saw this on AliExpress... https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805534143813.html Is this a Chinese knock-off of the DX Chogokin YF-19 original release, plus the addition of a light-up fold booster? I wonder if it is worth buying at about $70, including shipping to the US....? Quote
jenius Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I think you're just buying a fold booster, not the DX YF-19. You can select a YF-19 but the price jumps. Quote

PointBlankSniper Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Is it common to get a factory stand adapter so out of spec that it just wobbles and banks 5 degrees to one side? My fighter cradle is like that. I've unscrewed the halves and seems like one side is just sloppy enough to not grab the big tab of the stand properly. Tried to pad it back to tightness with crafting glue as a reversible change, but it peeled. Probably going to try Tamiya cement next... any better ideas? And I've been playing with the tightness screws of one hip without realizing I could probably have solved some of my problems just by pressing the swing bar back in behind the spring ramp. Those screws are starting to strip. Anyone know the specs or any common place to find replacement of those screws? Quote
jenius Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Yes on the stand adapter. I'm posting a review this weekend and I mention it. Quote

PointBlankSniper Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Think I finally managed to "fix" the fighter cradle. This thing's socket was quite sloppily designed and manufactured way out of spec compared to other addapters IMO I opened into its halves and put a lot of layers of Mr. Cement Deluxe on them. I put a thick line of cement over many passes on the two long edges at the mouth of the socket, so it could have proper supports to stand up on the rim of the stand's tab. By default, it roll sideways off its front and rear edges as they were bulged in the center from the factory. The roll was uneven on both sides, so I had to eyeball both sides and give them a different number of layers lol. I also added a a few thin layers on the upper half of the socket walls, so that the stand's tab would no longer have hollow space to wiggle and lean into. Somehow they didn't clamp on the tab properly either. It was an unsightly and uneven job, but I can barely see the gap between the stand and cradle even when I look for it, so it's good enough for me. There was a third defect in which the ribs at the top of the socket could not rest on the top of the tab. I didn't bother fixing that, since it didn't seem necessary. Not to mention massively lengthening two opposing set of ribs, individually, to all reach the same length to touch the tab, with just liquid cement from a brush seems like a dumb idea. Any one of them flowing around the corner would result in a lot of clean up work before the halves could close again lol. Quote
Shawn Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Holy moly thanks for posting that video! I've been trying to sell a 'broken tailfin' new release YF-19 at the recent cons and no one would go near it even at super discounts. Now I realize it isn't broken in the sense that mine does something different than anyone else's. Barely touch it on fold and it pops off just the same. Now I can just replace that 'broken' post it note with one written down with @jenius's youtube link and timestamp and say 'this is Bandai's design' Quote
Chronocidal Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Have to admit, I've been tempted to pick up one of the new releases just for the fixed tail mount. But none of mine were ever really that bad, you just have to not mess with them too much. Quote

I might consider getting a reissue if so. Quote

Yeah the fins are solid unlike the full set, though I don't understand why they were ever changed in the first place I preferred the color matched base from the vf-19 advanced. I just picked up a copy for battroid. was kinda surprised they included yang but didn't also give us the part to fill in the backseat 😕 Quote

Chronocidal Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I'm honestly still baffled no one has ever bothered to include a replacement for the rear canopy. The rear canopy just slots in with a tab on both the Arcadia and Bandai versions. Would be really easy to make a Shapeways version though, so maybe something I should look into to add to my replacement neck cover. Quote
IIymij Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead but does anyone know if the missiles from the YF-19 fit on the DX VF-1 hardpoints? Quote
