Foblander
Crap. Mine came with a broken antenna. Bandai what the heck.. What's the best way to remedy this? Do I just use a bit of super glue?

GabrielV
Mine arrived. I've opened the box, but haven't taken it out yet. My antenna is broken, somewhat similar to Foblander's pic above, but not quite as severe. Doesn't matter as it will still have to be superglued. Also, it doesn't look like things on the left side of the fighter are pegged in correctly. Very gappy and out of alignment. Edit: Opened it up. It's really sloppily put together in fighter mode. It looks like I'll actually have to brave transforming this thing just to get it put in jet mode correctly. On the plus side, I don't notice any problem with the tailfins. Alex GS
Went today to pick it up to the post office: No broken Antenna Still I think it has some stress marks , oh well. Is it me or this Valk is heavier than the Advance VF 19 ?, will have to open my advance to check, Overall I'm damn happy for my YF

I'll take another look-see tonight, otherwise I'll chalk it up to another unfortunate QC issue. 2 hours ago, ArchieNov said: I feel that you’re doing something wrong here. There are clear positions for both high speed mode and battroid mode for the wings. The proper positions for the wing swing bars are all clearly detailed in the manual with diagrams. Checked your pic again and can see that you have the wings wrong in battroid. You didn’t push them in. Tried it again, got it looking like in the manual, compared it to reviewers' wings, and it's still floppy-like. I mean the way it looks is already kind of bad - well, "bad" - since it doesn't pivot at the right area, but also it IS just kind of freeform. Even when it's in the "correct" position it's not locked into place, you can easily move the wing around, move the swing bar around, etc. But mostly I just got trapped by the anime magic and expected the wings to work differently than they do. They're a nitpick, not a concern. 59 minutes ago, seti88 said: I certainly hope so to avoid any concerns on distorted pieces. Bandai should continue that practise of spares in DX valks... I too wish they would provide more spares. A spare VF in each box, for instance, would not go amiss.
HG Blows
We should create a poll to see how many people have broken antenna's, this QC is horrible. Didn't bandai just release a video about their production process and how they painstakingly inspect all their pieces?

It’s a shipping & handling issue and maybe a box design issue. I’m almost positive that these head lasers were fine when they left the factory and just got broken somewhere along the way. ridgebacks
No broken antenna from HLJ here. I'd like to say, the yf-19 really is a pain in the ass to transform. First time handling any kind of 19. It took me 1.5 hours to put on the SP pack (the shoulder armor can't lock into the leg for some reason). Gotta say, is it me or the canopy isn't blue enough even compare to the box cover?

Quality Control is a pretty broad term, if the package doesn't give enough clearance and forces a piece to snap, i think it falls under the umbrella. Labels aside, it's a pretty crappy thing to deal with given the price tag, that we can all agree on?

Technically this would fall under packaging design I think.
GabrielV
Something I thought of is that I generally open AmiAmi packages from the bottom, because there's less stuff in the way of just cutting the tape and getting at my goodie inside. So, I flipped the box over, did my cut, and took my YF-19 out also upside down. But what if that moment was when my antenna was damaged? I noticed there's quite a bit of give in the way the YF-19 is in the package. Normally the valks are much more secure in the styrofoam and don't have so much space in the plastic cover on top. There seems to be plenty of space for the antenna in it's bubble, but there's also plenty of room for shifting space under the plastic for the whole jet. So, when I flipped it over, did the antenna bump in that moment and get the minor snap? Semi-unrelated note... I had attempted to order the YF-19 from HLJ, but I also got an order in at AmiAmi. Later, HLJ sent me the cancellation email for my order, and they also sent me a 10% off code. Well, I noticed that the Fate Formal Craft 1/7 figure was showing as released and figured I'd use my 10% off coupon to order it. Instead, I discovered the code was not valid. I thought I had until 2019 to use it? So I went over to AmiAmi and ordered it there.
Sanity is Optional
Try emailing HLJ customer service about the discount code not working? Just checked my email from that incident, and it said good until May 1st 2019. [edit] Mine worked fine when I used it a couple months back. Edit* Not sure what they changed b/w the vf19adv packaging and the yf19's that made the difference. Actually, the packaging for the Advance was entirely different. It used the standard cardboard-covered styrofoam tray that Bandai had been using since the Frontier valks came out. This one's got the new style packaging used on the Delta valks, with a molded plastic cover over the foam, instead of using small blocks of foam to hold the valk in place under the cardboard sheet. I'm fairly sure that the plastic cover is going to be less forgiving than the cardboard covers, if the head laser pokes it. I just got my first copy delivered from AmiAmi, but I'm holding off opening it until later this weekend.. going to be the first new valk I open up after settling into a new house. Edit: Second copy just arrived from CD Japan about an hour after the first. Will be sure to inspect them thoroughly as soon as I get settled! ArchieNov
The Advance packaging also has that plastic bubble insert over the styrofoam, so in that regard I think the plastic cover over the antenna is similar to that of the YF-19. However, I think is the major difference here is that in the Advance (and other Frontier valks), the plastic tray with the stand and other accessories are placed on top of the valk. That gives an extra layer of buffer in case pressure is placed on the top of the box since there’s a bit of additional space. For the YF-19, the order is reversed with the valk layer directly on top, with only the cardboard insert over it. I can imagine that if something was to place pressure at the center of the box, it has a greater chance of causing the plastic over the antenna to push down on it until it breaks. PsYcHoDyNaMiX
@Chronocidal and @ArchieNov: yea both of you guys are absolutely right about the cardboard panel (chron) amd the stacking of the accessory trays (archie). treatment
welp! finally got my dx-yf19 today delivered, so a couple of pics... fortunately, seems not-bandai'd... out of the box mcgappy, tho... I don't have the Arcadia nor the VF-19Advanced, but the canards on this DX YF-19 seems like it needs some viagra or something... edit: btw, to those keeping some shop-scores about the antennae-gate (headlaser-gate?)... I got mine from CDJ. With my then-expiring points. That pretty much paid for the EMS fees. Edited September 28, 2018 by treatment

Well based on this pic from jenius, the angle of the canards on the Bandai is more accurate (it’s the Advance, but it’s basically the same thing). On the other hand, the Arcadia version might be too “perky”. But I think neither got it right.
