borgified Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Stinks that the Elvis Hs, Mirage's and Booger's Ba Drakens didn't get made for those that wanted it... Quote

MKT Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Slight addendum to the yellowing discussion earlier: I just noticed Mandarake has recently started to add remarks to Frontier v2 valks that yellowing may occur (in addition to the possible nose hinge crack) for unopened ones. Quote

mark-1s Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I’ve always loved the 262 but every time I see that head I see this…… Quote
borgified Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hahahaha... I bet Stitch can handle the SAAB J35 Draken anyways. 😁 The Head on the 262Hs looks more of the Egyptian god Anubis to me, while the Ba is the Pope Head VF-17. Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I think of the Hs as the anubis head too, and it kind of feels like cheating in mechanical design for a valk head to be structured like that tbh. The Ba imo is pretty much the VF-14's squid head. Don't see any resemblance to Stitch in either one though Quote

MacrossJunkie Posted April 5 Posted April 5 This comes very late, but coincidentally while painting something else with Citadel Paint - Retributor Armor, it came to my mind that it looked just like the gold used on Keith's SV-262. I had one that had a lot of the gold that was scuffed off and tried applying some to it. It is nearly identical. I repainted that whole area outlined in the black box on both sides of where it separates and I think most people would have a hard time distinguishing it from the rest of the gold on the 262. Just a tip if there's anyone else that had the gold scuff off or peeled off with the protective plastic right out of the box and wanted to do some touch ups. Quote
Chronocidal Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Actually that discovery is very much appreciated, since it really is hard to find a proper match for touching up, and some of the edges have long since flaked on my 262s. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted April 12 Posted April 12 How does Retributor Armor "brush"? Many gold paints lately (looking at you, Vallejo) are very "sticky" and horrible to use, even if the color is nice. Quote

If I had to do it again, I would probably just thin it enough to airbrush it on as my paint brushing skills are not the best. I recently got some Citadel contrast medium and it seems to help the citadel paints flow better as well when brushing. Small are touchups like I did in my pic should be fine. Doing something like a whole strip, I'd probably use my airbrush. Edited April 12 by MacrossJunkie Quote
Sildani Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Having worked with Citadel metallics for years, I can say they are some of the best available and forgive brush painting readily, BUT they need to be thoroughly mixed for a good consistency. I use an electric paint shaker and a couple stainless steel ball bearings in the paint pot and that’s always done the trick. Quote

DownIsUp Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Wow, that came out of nowhere! Hoping this means a Ba type is still in the cards Quote
borgified Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Correction @no3Ljm - The Elvis Draken with the Miku Miku Itasha right? 😉 I thought Booger's 262 was a Ba originally, however it's not in this case?? Seems like Bandai loves to reuse and milk the Hs version after Keith's. Quote

Chronocidal Posted August 22 Posted August 22 They doing this one as a webshop exclusive? I don't see how they can really expect it to sell, otherwise. Quote
Sildani Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) They’re just reissuing Keith’s mount? What a disappointment. Should have done a Ba model, Mirage’s ride, or the “meownie” 262 from the cat planet. EDIT: No, it’s Bogue’s from a movie I didn’t see. Very well, my other points stand. Edited August 22 by Sildani Quote
Sandman Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Ideally i'm glad they're giving this mold a go again. My cynical practical side is telling me to wait for the price to drop and pick it up cheaper. Quote

seti88 Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 I still remember opening kieth's 262HS....breathtaking...dat tampo....chef's kiss!....pictures dont do it justice... Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I didn't expect this. I too wish they released the Ba instead. The crimson and gold colors don't look bad, but not sure I want to get this as it's just a repaint for a character I'm not fond of. The paint will probably peel off with the protective plastic and with their poor QC as of late and the fiddly nature of the 262, I will likely find unexpected issues that weren't present with the original release. Been burned by Bandai a lot these past few years. I would have put up with it if it was the Ba variant since it would be something new at least. Quote
MKT Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) Yeah just gotta try and have zero expectations now with anything Bandai. We already can’t reliably predict what they gonna release next, & now we can’t take for granted if the quality is gonna be ok for repaints. Keith’s Hs color scheme still look much better than this Red Knight’s, the gold/copper really pop against the dark blue base & is just the most gorgeous paint scheme in Macross toy history IMHO. Such a shame no Ba yet, but when the movie debuted this Hs Red Knight, the intention to milk Hs is pretty much telegraphed, even if I was just saying we shouldn’t predict anything Bandai does lol. Frustrating.. Edited August 23 by MKT Quote
borgified Posted August 23 Posted August 23 @Mog - Booger’s 262 Hs is a repaint of Keith’s Hs (which was released in 2016 if memory is correct). Bandai can’t be bothered to make a Ba version, so they rise and repeat the older molds with new colours just to make you fall into “Peer/Pier” pressure into getting another product. Quote
Pontus Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I too would rather have the Elvis, but I was just asked today by my daughter what my favorite valk was, so I can hardly pass this up after telling her it's the 262. Quote
Raikkonen Posted August 23 Posted August 23 29,700 Yen, Feb 2025 release. No Europe and Latam for now. Quote
seti88 Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 (edited) The turquoise in the eyes and sensors do look nice as a contrast against the brown(?)...however the turquoise splashes are too few to make much impact.. Also does that look more matt then kieth's 252? Bandai saving costs? For the draken scheme, i prefer it with a semi-glossy finish, which i thk kieth's was(?)..i cant remember and my draken is in storage... Edited August 23 by seti88 Quote
