tbh, I am not really concern about the forward thrust and vernier. As long as I get a beautiful plane that can transform to Battroid, I am good. If I want realism, I wont ever be a fan of Humanoid mecha.

Well that's fine, but I am. I guess I wouldn't be if the valks and toys *never* had them, but they always had them until the -30 and after, which seems kinda sloppy.

Regarding manoeuvring thrusters (verniers) there appear to be the same ones that are in the nose of the VF-25 series. You have to look hard but there are three in the nose. One on either side, right in-line with the painted stripe. The one on top is at the front of the anti-glare paint in front of the canopy.

Obviously there are no classic "Macross" round hole with handle styled boosters and this does indeed make me a bit sad. They are definitely iconic and missed in this design.

I guess they're old tech much like the classic NACA ducts on older jets and cars.

I did notice on the lineart top-down cut-cutout's that the classic round verniers are present on the tips of the wings but those have never shown up on the toys.

Are the tail-fins missing on Delta 05?

If I remember correctly the FSW are folded down in high speed mode while the tail fins stay in place. I can see the folded down FSW but not the tail fins in this image.

I remember the tail fins also folded when messer went HSM...perhaps its not in the pic due to the perspective angle..

btw the model pic above this post also shows the tailfin with a hinge for folding....

All i can say is its probably a perspective view hiding it.

I wouldnt be surprised either if it folded all the way down in parked mode, since there is a hinge on the tailfin.

Yes, 05 is undoubtedly in a storage mode, so its vertical stabs are folded down. I doubt very much there's enough clearance in that room for them to be raised.

Exactly. The F-14 has a ground-only wing setting for parking. And the A-5 could only fold its tail fin on the ground.

The 31C has the look of an old traditional J head while the 31J has a modified 31A head.

With the exception of Arad and Hayate everyone else appears to be running the same head lasers.

But wow, Kawamori must have already had a love-hate relationship with his lead character since inception, when he is assigning the uglier head design to Hayate.

My ranking for the moment would be F > S > C, the rest is meh.

If we're talking just the head designs, I would say S > C and the rest are too Frontier-ish and insectoid for my taste. (Note: Not a vote for the count, I still say the J based on colors and iconicity.)

All the prototypes have been painted flat. The any release since the 30 has been flat.
