seti88 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Reading this topic has made me humming.... One of the best movies evar, the original BTTF! And the kick in the end when the delorean goes Mr Fusion? Roads? where we're going we dont need roads! Coolness overload ! Quote
anime52k8 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Part of the problem is that no technology now would be especially shocking in 1985. A smartphone would have zero wifi or mobile networks to connect to, and possibly through the power of movie magic "might" believably connect to a cellular network from the era to make calls. But even that wouldn't bewilder the people of '85. For the most part, a smartphone would be written off as a calculator, and would provide none of the shock value of the walkman in the original. The most extreme to hope for would be an app that connects to ancient mobile networks, and emulates a dial-up modem to hack 1985 era computers. That however is stupid, and would be used at best to change Marty's parents class schedules or grades. BttF just wouldn't have the same culture shock value with travelling back to the 80's. I feel like that would be a funny angle to play though, the running joke would be that everyone is underwhelmed with the actual future and the time traveler sticks out like a sore thumb because his attempts to blend in are based on hilariously over exaggerated 80's stereotypes. skullmilitia Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 BTTF 2015, is basically an alternate universe where Social networking never happened. The Trillions spent on social sites, phones, and devices went into attractions, vehicular travel... and well pretty much everything else that's not "what I had for lunch today" At least that's the theory we came up with. anime52k8 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 changing the future to make things better himself and his family also undid the invention of hover-tech and self fitting clothing. selfish prick. Quote
Keith Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 changing the future to make things better himself and his family also undid the invention of hover-tech and self fitting clothing. selfish prick. Aside from breaking the plot of the original movies, causing a divergence from BttF 2015 to real 2015 might actually be funny. Quote
UN Spacy Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Anyone score a bottle of Pepsi Perfect? Any of you catching the BTTF marathon at the Cinemark Theaters on 10/21? I'm still waiting on news of Nike's Air Mags which are supposed to have dem power laces. Quote
spanner Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Loved the original! And I can say I saw it in the cinema! I was young but still remember going to see it with my older sister! The sequels were good but they lacked the spark of the first movie. Always been a big fan of the DeLorean too! Quote
JB0 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I saw it in theaters too! ... When they did the 25th anniversary screening. Quote
TangledThorns Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 In some way I can't wait for 2016 so this BttF nonsense can end. However we still have Blade Runner's 2019 to look forward too Quote
