MechTech Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) See there's another one! 1/32nd is normally for big aircraft and some older American armor models. 1/35th is for armor with some aircraft too. You're both right! Our hobby has more scales than the fish in the ocean! -MT Edited March 11, 2016 by MechTech Quote
David Hingtgen Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Generally, "Imperial" scales are aircraft. "Metric" are ships and tanks. Cars are both, with the ever-confusing 1/24 and 1/25 being among the most popular. Note: A good number of older Japanese kits are "metric" versions of "imperial" scales. 1/72 F8 Crusader seems a bit off? Because it's really 1/70. You'll also find 1/100 for 1/96, and 1/150 for 1/144. IIRC, a lot of Japanese N-scale trains are 1/150 instead of the proper 1/160. Quote
VF-1A Grunt Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 IIRC, a lot of Japanese N-scale trains are 1/150 instead of the proper 1/160. That's for a legitimate reason though. Japanese trains run on a narrower gauge than U.S. prototypes, so in order to operate on the same N scale track, the Japanese model trains have to be slightly larger so they're the correct scale relative to the track gauge. Kelsain Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 While I like to stick to a few scales across genres, I'm pretty forgiving of slight variations. For me, 1/4222 is close enough to 1/4150 & 1/4000. So I'm ok putting my Star Destroyer, a Galactica & th Macross next to each other & calling it a day. 1/150 & 1/144? Ok, 1/82 & HO? A bit of a stretch, but workable in some cases. Between animation errors, mid-scaled shots & the fictional nature of the subjects I'm interested in, I'm not too picky. As long as it's close... Quote
NZEOD Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) HO/OO 1/72,1/76, 1/87 and 20mm wargaming scale, roughly considered around 1/72 scale... yeah right! Edited March 14, 2016 by NZEOD Quote

MechTech Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 If I smoked pot I would have thought I was having flashbacks watching that video! OK, back on target... Those Tomy Tec vaks look awesome! They must be well tampo-painted like the 1/200th diecast planes I have. You can actually read some of the "do not step" markings! Opening canopy-COOL! I don't really do 1/144th, but I'm tempted to get one for my son and I. Of course the lights and sounds are cool too! I've gotta get me one of those Macross aprons for the shop! - MT Quote
Major Focker Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 imagine if the sound unit wasn't just for the afterburners, but also for the buzzsaw gunpod effect. Quote
NZEOD Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 no reason you cant build that sound system already Quote
Big s Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 I always loved the sound that gunpod made. It brings back memories. Quote
Major Focker Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 my electronics skills at the moment are limited to connecting speakers to the AV receiver and putting batteries into the remote but one day i will put my EE classes to good use Quote
Big s Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I don't think th gunpod sound as ring tone would be a good idea, unless you don't like people getting too close they will think you had the most epic of epic burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrritos for lunch.🙀 Quote
