calubin_175 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 You know, on this account Bandai may be using their Megahouse line to test the waters for the demand for an SDFM version then? Reminds me of the Yamato 2199 Megahouse Domelaze III and the 1/1000 model kit. Quote
Mommar Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Reminds me of the Yamato 2199 Megahouse Domelaze III and the 1/1000 model kit. I honestly have no idea what you're referring to but I'm going to assume that means I'm getting a 1/3000 SDFM SDF-1 sometime soon. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 grabbed 2 preorders need them for a diorama im planing to make... cuz my two other TV SDF-1 are too big for that... considering the space i have available http://www.hlj.com/product/meg82029 Quote
eggy99 Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure why I preordered this... I think I have preorders' remorse now, so I will cancel my preorder now. I blame the HLJ post that came up on my FB news feed. EDIT: aahhhh! I was going to cancel the preorder and then saw it again on HLJ and saw how awesome it looks.... and preorder not cancelled... LOL! I have until March to change my mind again. Edited November 5, 2015 by eggy99 Quote

If anything you'll regret not picking it up after it eventually is discontinued. Quote

mickyg Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I've never noticed how truly cobbled together this spaceship looks until studying both the Hasegawa kit and now this one. The Promethius is just all kinds of wrong in shape to make it streamlined against the main spaceship. You've got the angled landing deck on one side, and the superstructure on the other. There's just no way to tuck the carrier in closer to the leg of the SDF-1. Believe it or not, that's one of the things I love about it! It just looks like a real attempt at attaching something that wasn't really meant to go there in the first place. Quote
no3Ljm Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) I'm sure you've seen all of them but heck, it's picture time! mickyg Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 OK, question time, can it be shown in cruiser mode, with the ship "arms" facing toward the bow instead of stern? You know, so it can look like the picture in the banner on this site, for example? Quote
no3Ljm Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I guess, it's safe to assume it can based on the photos. But yeah, interesting to see if that's a possible. Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Edit* Nyankodevice legs better match the lineart.... "legs" look kind of stubby....I wonder if maybe they forgot to slide down the legs more to make them appear longer.... Edited November 6, 2015 by jvmacross Quote

"legs" look kind of stubby....I wonder if maybe they forgot to slide down the legs more to make them appear longer.... your right about that... they arent long enough.... however the legs in that drowing are too long.... needs to be in between a change im gonna make on my 2 ships when i get them.... mickyg Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Can't wait to see that. I think they're too long in the drawing as well. That'd make cruiser mode look a bit funny in my opinion. Quote

I do find very large ships that are not symetrical to be kind of interesting personally. To me it seems more realistic. Such large ships would probably be built over a long period of time and perhaps even retro-fitted over the years for various reasons. Quote

Keep in mind to, that Miyatake seems to have consider perspective in these drawings. A 1200 m long object will look VERY different to an observer than a 20cm object. Quote
Mommar Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I'm getting it because it's the only proper SDFM version anybody is putting out but I could nitpick the details on it all day. The legs are too severely thick, too stubby. The lots of stuff about the bow that are too stubby or long as well. But it's still one of the best proportioned SDFM SDF-1's (and only one of two?) made. Lolicon Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 No PPB effect part? This is an outrage! Quote
Mr Bomber Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Preordered at HLJ, looking forward to it! Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Some comparison shots to the lineart....lineart courtesty of Macross Mecha Manual....Megahouse pics from AmiAmi..... Quote
jenius Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 The only thing that really jumps out to me is how thin the carriers are. Otherwise I'm all on board. Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) The 30 year old Takatoku 1/6300 was built as attack mode only....so the lower legs are more accurate, in terms of the proportions of the "blue part" of the leg that contributes to it's lengthy appearance.....this pic shows that the Megahouse is the complete opposite...it was built to showcase the cruiser mode.....the legs are too stubby....perhaps if they pull out a bit it will give them a "longer" appearance to compensate for the stubbiness....still, not sure what possible limitation could have made them mold it so short...as a parts-former they could have even provided separate legs for attack mode....oh well....still the best overall TV SDF-1 to be released......so far.... technoblue Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 The only thing that really jumps out to me is how thin the carriers are. Otherwise I'm all on board. It jumped out at me too. Especially, the Prometheus. Must've been that p90x. Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 At least it's not another SD version.... Quote
Lolicon Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 It's the best TV SDF-1 toy by default! https://youtu.be/RhvIISDoarU Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Actually, the whole leg is off.....the upper part of the leg is just too short.....in this instance, as a parts-former, an extra set of legs for attack mode would have been completely acceptable.....guess we still have to wait for either Arcadia's 1/3000 (a fool's hope?) or Bandai's SOC DX 1/1800 or 1/3000 TV SDF-1 to get a definitive rendition..... Edited November 6, 2015 by jvmacross Quote
jvmacross Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Megahouse says it's good enough for you! Bandai says no more TV SDF-1 for now, come back maybe in 2 years! Quote
technoblue Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Since it was brought up, I think it would be really nice if Master Made took a break from SD Transformers and released some SD Macross stuff again. I think they would do a TV SDF-1 justice. But whetever happened to that SD Monster? Quote
Chronocidal Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 The ships do look like they got squished a good deal, but that's not a huge thing to me. What does occur to me is that at this scale, it should be pretty darn affordable to shapeways some replacements, or even make a pair of ARMDs to swap in for variety. Quote
anime52k8 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I think it looks plenty nice for for the price. Quote
