Lolicon Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) I have the Soul of Chogokin Yamato (2199 version) and it's pretty sweet. But it's a non-transforming ship. The only transforming ship I have from Bandai is the Macross Quarter, and it sucks. I shudder to think of Bandai releasing an SDF-1 where you need separate stands to hold up the Daedalus and Prometheus because the arms are floppier than an old man who's lost his bottle of Viagra. brouken Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Aww, the DX Macross Quarter ain't that bad! Besides, I would blame the floppiness in the inherent design of the ship. There's really nothing much you can do to keep those arms holding the gunship and carrier locked straight. Anyway, since Bandai is reviving SDF Macross in its Hi-Metal R Series, I really hope they have plans for a transforming SDF-1 in the future. Quote
Mommar Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 This Megahouse version looks correct. They have my money. Quote
wmkjr Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) Transformation possible? Those shoulder and arm joints wouldn't be there for nothing would it or wishful thinking? Looks pretty good for a printed prototype. Images from @Bat1911: Edited October 8, 2015 by wmkjr Quote
spanner Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 It doesn't look like both forks of the main gun are actually separate so I highly doubt its transformable.. It would be nice of course but no way for that small scale even though the transformation is rather simple. I originally thought of this as a pass but its sooo teeny and cute that I might just have to get one! I don't have any capital ships so i guess I gotta start somewhere! Quote
UN Spacy Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 The Cosmo Fleet Special is where they only focus on cap ships...right? COUGH BATTLE 7 /COUGH Quote
Mr Bomber Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 The Cosmo Fleet Special is where they only focus on cap ships...right? COUGH BATTLE 7 /COUGH that would be awesome! Quote
Mommar Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 The sculpt looks GREAT. Although, why would there be any sort of sagging in the arms if it didn't transform? Or why leave that joint on the arm exposed like that ? Quote

Although, why would there be any sort of sagging in the arms if it didn't transform? Or why leave that joint on the arm exposed like that ? I assumed it's still in the prototype stage and on the arm joint there's some tape on it. But would it be nice if it transform even if we need to disassemble some parts and not having a true 'perfect' transformation sequence. I'm good with that. Quote
jvmacross Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 that would be awesome! The Cosmo Fleet Special is where they only focus on cap ships...right? COUGH BATTLE 7 /COUGH Well....that could still be on someone's plans.... Quote
Model-Junkie Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 None of the Cosmo Fleet Special ships feature any special features other than rotating turrets or extra mini ships so I do not expect this to transform. However, those should and arm joints do look very movable. Maybe they can move up or down and swing outwards? Quote
no3Ljm Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Or probably they made it like that so that when they decide to release the DYRL version, they will just replace the arms with ARMD arms and make their own hybrid SDF-1 like Hasegawa's. Atleast this one will have that 'curve' thing under the main cannon. Quote
no3Ljm Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 is this out for pre-order yet? No details yet on preorder and release dates. We can safely guess it will be released on 2016. So preorders will be available late this year. Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 The front forks are tight fitted together but looking closer they look to be two separate pieces, also if you look at the side view pic, the main cannon hinges to the chest piece and the legs are misaligned because the toy sags (which means they're separate pieces also). I understand that some pieces must be cast separately even for a static toy, but those are still very odd things for a non transforming chunk of plastic. Also, judging by the acrylic sign next to it, (that should be at least 10 centimeters long, because 6 centimeters would be tiny and useless), I'd say the SDF-1 is more in the 25/27 centimeters ballpark, which could also explains the good finish and fine detail. Or maybe I'm just crazy wishful thinking. Quote

technoblue Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Transformation would be a welcome gimmick. Even better, would be a Daedalus Attack gimmick complete with a handful of mini destroids. I mean, we are dreaming, right? Quote

Gunn Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 IT'S HAPPENING! OMG… any word on a release/pre-order date?!!! Quote
Kelsain Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Look pretty good. More TV accurate than the Hasegawa. But, at 20cm, that's about 1/6000 - too far off scale from my other ships. I'm a stickler for compatible scales. Quote
Mommar Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Cool that they're doing it. Not particularly well proportioned in that Storm Attacker mode, but a cool addition. Quote
Lolicon Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 It looks inebriated. The columns of the main gun should be turned 90 degrees. Hopefully someone just didn't transform it properly. Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) proportions are way off in the storm attacker mode but this is the first transforming TV (SDFM) SDF-1 since the takatoku/matchbox one right? i wish they'd go ahead and make it big though...l/3000 lol. i do think that if this doesn't get yamat....i mean arcadia off its ass and do one....nothing will. anyway i'm paying attention now and will likey hop on if it isn't horrible. technoblue Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Looks good enough to me. And I can't wait to see it in color. Quote
no3Ljm Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Preordered 2 for two modes. Waiting for DYRL version now. Quote
Mommar Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) Honestly, that Storm Attacker mode is utterly terrible looking and disappointing. The only redeeming quality is that the Cruiser looks good and since until now we thought it was only a static form I'll treat it as suck and only display it in Cruiser mode.
