Thom Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I saw this pre-order on E2046. It's for a resin VF-29, static fighter model. Price is listed at $47.47. http://www.e2046.com/product/22799 Quote
Model-Junkie Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I thought this was going to be an announcement by Bandai or Hasegawa. E2046 are known for selling recasted resin kits, I wonder which kit this was copied from? Apparently its not a great one, according to the one review on the webpage Quote
chyll2 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I forgot the name of the event, but it is from this year event in Japan. Yes, it is a recast of that since the picture they showed there is from the event itself. As for the review, yeah, not really promising Quote
Duymon Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Interesting kit. It looks like whoever made it recasted a lot of parts from the 1/72 vf-25 kits as I recognize a ton of those parts...sadly. Could prolly make a much sturdier kit if you use the Vf-25 pieces. Would cut down dramatically on the small fragile parts. Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) I've got the original kit: You do have to use some parts from the Bandai POS VF-25, which I'm very willing to sacrifice to make this one (eventually). And you have to write to the maker to get the instructions. He did that to try and cut down on recasting. Who wants to buy a complex kit with no instructions? Edited July 15, 2015 by Jefuemon Quote
ahiachris Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 The event is called Wonder Festival 2015. It runs twice a year during summer and winter. Quote
wmkjr Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Looks like a recast of a FRAME OUT models wonderfest release Quote
Kylwell Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I was going to ask who they ripped off for it. Quote
ahiachris Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 They ripped off the guys from Seventh Moon http://yaplog.jp/sitinana/archive/95 Quote
cool8or Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I want it! Is it available (the original kit)? Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Nope, not Seventh Moon. It was made by Frameout Models, sculpted by ensing. They occasionally show up on Yahoo Auctions. That's where I grabbed mine. Quote
NZEOD Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Are these resin kits worth the effort when compared to the Plastic kitsets? Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Are these resin kits worth the effort when compared to the Plastic kitsets? Depends. A lot of these Festival-only kits are of subject matter that no one else has produced as a plastic kit. Also, a while back, the only way to get a 1/72 scale nice quality VF-1 kit was to buy the Club M/Yellow Submarine garage kit. Same as the YF-19. YF-21, and the movie version SDF-1. Hasegawa has released plastic versions of all those kits now. If you want a fun challenge, go ahead and pick up one of the old resin kits. Thanks to Hasegawa, the prices on them have really nosedived from the original. Quote
NZEOD Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) Liking the look of the VF2SS and the racer planes so I'm searching online at the moment. I play with explosives for a living so this is my calming pasttime. I will enjoy the challenge. Edited July 29, 2015 by NZEOD Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) There's an original up for bids now. Good price, too. EDIT: Sorry, recast. Edited July 31, 2015 by Jefuemon Quote
wmkjr Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Jefuemon, is that the correct link? That link points to a Hong Kong recast on YJA. Is this the one you're referring to? Thanks. Edited July 30, 2015 by wmkjr Quote
NZEOD Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 damn... I want that one! How hard is it to buy from a Japanese auction? Communication etc? Quote
Jefuemon Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Jefuemon, is that the correct link? That link points to a Hong Kong recast on YJA. Is this the one you're referring to? Thanks. Oh, that was a recast? Damn! The instructions threw me. Blanking out the link now. Quote
NZEOD Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Oh, that was a recast? Damn! The instructions threw me. Blanking out the link now. Is a recast a bad thing? Quote
Loop Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Yeah recast is a bad thing imo. Basically buy a kit and them recast it off of the parts you did nothing to design. That seems to fit the classification of "Bootlegging" especially if you are selling it at a profit. Quote
MechTech Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 NZEOD, you should try a simple resin model. They're different because of the material. They usually cover less popular versions of models. Bubbles can be an issue on lower quality kits, but a simple one is a good way to break into them. They just need good a good parts degreasing and superglue. If it turns out bad, "practice" on it at the range! Recasts are simply copied work from someone else, piracy. It's stealing and it happened to some of our members so it's a touchy subject. I'd hate for someone to copy my stuff and take credit for it or profit off it myself. Welcome aboard by the way! - MT Quote
NZEOD Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Thanks for the welcome and yeah, I'm VERY familiar with having my work ripped off with graphic design work I do on weapons and race bikes/cars. Can be infuriating. Quote
