Dangard Ace Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Gundam Fight! Readdddy-----GO! "But you know we really need......MELEE COMBAT." http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2015/07/06/its-going-to-happen-japan-accepts-usas-request-for-a-robot-duel-videos/ Quote
EXO Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is it wrong that I'm rooting for Japan? That's Gaijinbot is kinda meh... I'd rather see the Aliens power loader over that. Quote
Loop Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I don't think so. I am also rooting for JP, I think they should be able to come up with some cool wild design I would hope. I like the melee angle too, paint balls just don't cut it in my book. I want to see carnage lol. Quote
505thAirborne Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Is it wrong that I'm rooting for Japan? That's Gaijinbot is kinda meh... I'd rather see the Aliens power loader over that. Not at all, Team Japan has my support!! Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 So this...is how Robot Jox begins. I'm rooting for the Kuratas. Any mech whose fire control system is triggered by the pilot's smile doesn't deserve to lose. Quote
miriya Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Japan is going to kick ass! I cant wait to watch this. I just hope that no humans get hurt. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) From the east..... KURATAS! From the west..... MEGABOT! Wealth and glory to the winner!!! Edited July 7, 2015 by renegadeleader1 Quote
Loop Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I'm not even sure team JP is going to use the Kuratas for this. The Kuratas seems like more of a technical/consumer type, I have a feeling they would use another design. In that second video they showed stuff I didn't even know that guy had made beside the Kuratas. Quote
azrael Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I'm all for USA getting payback in the World Cup. This, however, I'm rooting for Japan. Quote
M'Kyuun Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Yeah, Japan all the way. That American mech is just embarrassing. Quote
UN_MARINE Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Team Kuratas all the way! IMO, the Megabot epitomizes how far behind western mech design philosophy is - the Kuratas is a mech, the Megabot is a forklift/bulldozer with guns. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Yeah, Japan all the way. That American mech is just embarrassing. If this were an anime the Megabot would be the equivilent of the plucky scratch built small time mom & pop amatuers facing the big soulless, more advanced, and professional company. I wonder if the Megabot guys going to take this as seriously as Suidobashi undoubtedly will. It seems like this is more of a publicity stunt to make the Megabots famous, but Suidobashi is going to see this as a tech demo to show everyone what their Kuratas can really do. It reminds me of the clusterfrak that was the Antonio Inoki vs Muhammad Ali exhibition fight. Inoki thought it was for real, and Ali thought it would be fake. Phobos Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I'm a little disappointed with the mech 'Merica. I'd be even more disappointed if the Japanese mech wasn't piloted by an emo 14 year old. Or look like a gundam. Quote
UN Spacy Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Needs more Craig Charles and Philippa Forrester. 3, 2, 1. ACTIVATE! Quote
Vepariga Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 one good punch on that top heavy merican bot and it'll tip backwards and let gravity do the rest. Quote
JB0 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 They're both wheeled vehicles. Remember seeing the Guntank and laughing? Yeah, this is two Guntanks going at it like they're hot stuff. Also, I like the US Guntank better, though I think they both look pretty rad. Quote
TangledThorns Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I wonder what kind of safety will be in place to ruin the fun? Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 The Japanese mech may be prettier, but I've always favored function over form. I'm rooting for Megabot. MURICA! Quote
TangledThorns Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) Welcome to the Robo-Dome! Two robots enter, one robot leaves!! Edited July 8, 2015 by TangledThorns Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 If MegaBot doesn't boot up with "Reactor: Online. Sensors: Online. Weapons: Online. All Systems Nominal" I'm going to be a very disappointed Mechwarrior. Quote
Mr March Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Interesting. Not sure if it'll be much to look at, given the primitive nature of the robots. No matter who wins, we lose, kinda thing, lol! But it's at least worth giving it a chance. If MegaBot doesn't boot up with "Reactor: Online. Sensors: Online. Weapons: Online. All Systems Nominal" I'm going to be a very disappointed Mechwarrior. I still love the Mechwarrior II startup sequence, The one that tells you the planet, temp and all that; "Satellite: Karika, Ambient Temperature: 45.44 degrees, Local Time is 13:35:28 GST, All Systems Nominal" Quote

All Secundaries are Green. Ready for launch. Quote
JB0 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 oh lord now they need money? k'mon : /And they aren't even budgeting LEGS. It's STILL going to be a Guntank when they're done! Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 And they aren't even budgeting LEGS. It's STILL going to be a Guntank when they're done! If completed, it's gonna have bald eagles wearing aviator sunglasses with guns coming out of their mouths for shoulders. Your argument is invalid! Quote
JB0 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 If completed, it's gonna have bald eagles wearing aviator sunglasses with guns coming out of their mouths for shoulders. Your argument is invalid!Okay, I do grant it will be the awesomest chainsaw-wielding guntank ever built IRL. Quote
azrael Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 So basically they talked the talk but now can't walk. Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 They'll bash each other around a bit and then realise that their true enemy is Emperor Doctor Saurus Heil Cyber Hitler Cat and end the episode having a good laugh. Quote
TangledThorns Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Call me a cynic but I can just see the US robot getting knocked over and flopping around like ED-209 after it fell down a flight of stairs :/ Quote
Valkyrie Driver Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Who cares that they don't have proper legs yet. It's only a matter of time. The American bot, looks like something out of BattleTech, while the Japanese bot, looks like something out of Ghost in the Shell. I don't care who wins the challenge, because we all win. We're on the way to seeing giant mechs in our lives. For the record, I think the Japanese Mech will win, because it's had more development time. Quote
