Xigfrid Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) You can visit my Isamu Bike section on Shapeways, there you will find three versions of the bike in the following scales: 1/72, 1/60 and 1/48 here: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/xigfrid3dshop?section=Macross+Plus+bike&s=0 Design finalized, due to the very small size and details required, this bike is limited to FUD and FXD materials. Very fragile and brittle. A few highlight for the 1/60 scale design: -use of Arcadia's Isamu figurine as the bike pilot. -Lucy should be figured from a 1/72 siting blond figurine such as Preiser figures -no articulation except for the black part of the wheel that should rotate in order to facilitate painting it a different color. Available here: http://shpws.me/IdVO For 1/72 and 1/48 scales models, you would have to source your own Isamu and Lucy. Edited July 2, 2015 by Xigfrid Quote
Xigfrid Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 A few days ago, I was on the X-9 design when suddenly the power cut off and I lost half a day of data, including the X-9 files. So I decided to do something else but lighter to forget the loss. Quote
Xigfrid Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 I have finalized the design and put some updated pictures in 1st post. I am uploading it to Shapeways and will add it to my next order to review it. Stay tuned ! Quote
MechTech Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 That's a great idea and looks good too! Too bad the blonde is extra!:-) - MT Quote
GU-11 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Wow! You're definitely on a roll here, Xigfrid! Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Received it today, and I am pretty happy with how it comes ! As usual, the tight tolerances made printing residues to stack between the wheels and the motorcycle, so patience is required to inserted a wire in between and slowly remove all the dust that block the wheels to turn. here is the free front wheel! Next step: masking the canopy and have it painted! Quote

Thanks. Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) cant wait to see how it will turn out. Painting is not my best skill, I am working on it where is lucy? Still looking for a descent Lucy! If you spot her somewhere on ebay/amazon/hobby shop, let me know! Probably I am going with one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-72-Preiser-72403-Girls-Figurines-ORIGINAL-BOX-/291434402659?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43dad81363 That's so awesome, Xigfrid. Can I ask what's the material used on the one that you received? Thanks. I used Frost Extreme Detail, mostly because I have never tried this material before. I think the quality would be almost the same as in Frost Ultra Detail. Testing Isamu on his bike, he is firmly sit, but so alone right now Edited July 1, 2015 by Xigfrid Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Feasible, any interest for a 1/72 version? Quote

Cant remember whether its the arms or the head or both is/are moveable... I didn't know about the moving arms! I will test it once the bike is dry though. Cool8r, I modeled the 1/72 scale version and I have checked the tolerances, they are good so I made it available on my shop. I have also put the 1/48 scale. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/xigfrid3dshop?section=Macross+Plus+bike&s=0 Quote
MechTech Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 That looks awesome! Yes, go with the Preiser figures, they're some of the best. - MT Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 3, 2015 Author Posted July 3, 2015 Aaajin, I just checked and only the head is rotating, the arms are fixed. Anyway Isamu is so awesome that he can ride with its teeth! Quote

mickyg Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Wow! Xigfid, have you considered putting a link to your Shapeways offerings into your signature? I think it would be super helpful for people to know where to find your stuff. I don't think there are any rules stating you can't market yourself in your sig file. Just a thought... Quote
charger69 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I do that... and no admin Macross cannoned me Quote
Xigfrid Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I don't have a lot of things related to Macross yet. Later maybe Quote

Xigfrid Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 Almost finished painting my bike, I got to say that I didn't wash enough the bike and the primer didn't attach well at first. Now, after hand polishing and a few vernish layers, it is becoming nice. For those who will buy one or haven't yet begun to work on it, I noted a few advices from Nscale.net forums: 27 minutes in acetone to remove the wax and what not(I can't find bestine locally, my local michael's store doesn't even care tempera powder anymore and Hobby Lobby or Dick Blick are enough of a drive that the gas is more than paying to ship). Then a quick bath in warm water to clean it all up.600 grit sandpaper to knock off any ridges from the printing process. GO CAREFULLY. On my not-UPS trucks from nscaleaddict, I accidentally wiped out the headlights and ended up freehanding them back in. Freehanding aerodynamic lights isn't a joy.Black spray primer. Anything else I've tried is not sufficient to kill the translucency of FUD without obliterating detail. The last batch I believed I used Duplicolor sandable primer. My not-UPS trucks were painted black on the inside, got testors glossy brown spray on the outside. Then it's just normal painting. I have already washed my FUD parts with acetone, but 27 min is pretty scary. Quote
Jasonc Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) I got one of these, and it's very nice. the one thing I realized though, is that it's missing the front seat backrest. Was that taken out to fit the Arcadia figure. I haven't tried to seat a figure on it. I'm hoping form "someone" to sculpt them (ahem!) Edited July 18, 2015 by Jasonc Quote
