pengbuzz Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 If ever a series needed a "reboot", it's this one. It's only saving grace would seem to be that if Hot Rod gets Prime killed in this one, it'll be a mercy and we may end up cheering for Roddy! Quote

For sure it'll make a lot, but I think with audiences coming off of Wonder Woman and how good/smart that movie was audiences might be a bit more discerning. Hopefully. If this was released around a time when there were no genuinely good action/sci-fi blockbusters then I suspect this would make tons more $$$ and Bay would absolutely come back for more. This is like the 3rd or 4th time Bay has said he'd stop directing and I hope and pray that's true. 1 hour ago, Thom said: At this point I would prefer the GoBots! Otherwise, give it death or a reboot. Too soon for a reboot and even though Hollywood has fallen head-over-heels-stupid-in-love with reboots. I think it'd be a bad idea to do it since they're pretty established with 5 films and an existing fanbase for them. There's enough cannon, such as it is, with the current TF live action movies that a new director with a fresh vision could do wonders with the franchise. -b. Quote
Thom Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Well, as we've seen with Spiderman, it's never too early for a reboot... Wipe the slate clean, let people know a 'new' Transformer series would be more in-line with the original, with better and more likable characters, and an intelligent plot rather than a constant hash of boom boom boom, pretty chick running with things abouncing, bam blam and kappow, run and scream with incredibly stupid, one dimensional humans as giant robots move so fast when they fight you can't even tell what they're doing. I was so glad the first one was made and liked it a lot, and I was kind ...okay... with the changes made from the original cartoon series. But the second didn't move with an 'upward' trend in plot and character development, it just stuck to the exact same formula. And so have the next three, being just retreads of the same plot with the same over the top, one dimensional 'characters' running around. I saw Age of Extinction on network TV and will wait to see this one on that too, if I do ever see it. The only way I'd come back to see a Transformers movie is if MBay is not - in any way! - attached! But that's just me! Quote
Hikuro Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 From what I've been hearing is the movie just stinks and cringeworthy like most of them. Scores are horribly low and audience puts it at a 60% while RT gives it a 16% hateful stand. i saw a few sneaked footage clips and I had to turn it off, was just god awful to watch. im glad bay is stepping down, again, hope he really stays away from it even by producer standards. but has to has like a dozen scripts in the making too. The guys in charge of the Transformers movies don't really know HOW to make a good Transformers movie, despite some valiant efforts(let's be honest here, Dark of the Moon directly copied original cartoon episodes for most of the plot), and will likely wind up attached to any new Transformers movie, even if it IS a whole new world. It'll be Amazing Spiderman all over again: a new continuity done by the people that screwed everything up in the first place. Worse, it will result in there being TWO Bayformers continuities in the TF multiverse instead of one. It LITERALLY makes the situation twice as bad.  But I'd be pleased as punch if they just stopped making them. Quote

RedWolf Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 (edited) TF5 The Last Knight Major Plot Points and Speculation I have to say it now they ripped off Robert Orci's idea Earth is Unicron in Transformers Prime. Cybertron is Primus. Good work Bee you may have killed your god. About the relationship between King Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of Cybertron the Knights has been on Earth hiding for a long time. They have ship whose thrusters are sticking out like the G1 Ark. Saxons are invading Merlin a drunk and charlatan begged the Knights to help Britain. They didn't like the guy but he appealed to their conscience. So a deal was made Merlin is to protect the McGuffin staff that it is locked in his DNA. They save King Arthur transforming into Dragonstorm. Yeah the tree headed dragon is a combiner. Merlin's descendants are to protect the planet. His descendants are famous inventors and pioneers... Their family tree are traced to the Witwicky's. And they have a tendency to be Robot magnets as coined by Seymour Simmons, partnering with Autobots throughout history. Yes Joshua Joyce the one who conspired with the rogue CIA agent is likely a descendant as he is also played by Stanley Tucci. They have a secret society called the Order of Witwicky. "There is no victory without sacrifice" was a battle cry of King Arthur. Bumblebee was active in WW2 with Hot Rod fighting Nazis but he doesn't seem to remember that. There are Autobots hiding on Earth like the Decepticon Seekers. Bulldog who is unfortunately becoming senile like Jetfire was. Cogman a Headmaster that has served the Sir Edmund Burton's family man servant for centuries, he is a bit of a sociopath. Cogman preffers being called sociopath than psychopath. "Alliance" a WW2 British submarine that didn't transform in the movie. Now back to the McGuffin. Quintessa one of the creators and maker of Optimus Prime wants it as it is the key to killing Unicron and reviving Primus AKA Cybertron. Oh yes Quintessa is a Prime herself and is called a goddess. Now the pieces are coming together! Speculation on my part. The Primes faces is what you'd think Quintesson faces would be. That is because in this universe the Creators evolved into the race of the Primes. That is why Sentinel Prime and Quintessa consider themselves gods. Their race built the Transformers. Creators hands are similar to the Primes. At one point the Creators were organic becoming more cybernetic to fully synthetic bodies. They are Gobots! Or like Gorlam Prime's Micromasters that started off as meatbags. Now we go to the parallels between the Fallen and Quintessa. Both are ancient Primes. Both have McGuffins that can destroy Humans/Earth that were stolen. Both are betrayed by groups they trust. For the Fallen the six other Primes on Earth. For Quintessa the 12 Knights of Cybertron who were her own guards and creations. They stole the Staff and likely Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime is both a Prime and a Knight. Quintessa is literally Optimus Prime's mom. And she can reprogram him into Nemesis Prime when he crashed on Cybertron. This adds another dimension why this conflict between ancient Transformers involving Primes. Sacrifice the Humans so Unicron can be destroyed and Cybertron saved or hold unto their ideals in protecting life. This paints a picture of the Fallen, Quintessa and perhaps Sentinel Prime as zealots. Who care about the Humans they are Spawns of Unicron. Better nip them at the bud before Unicron wakes up and turns them into his minions. Quintessa is bringing Cybertron to Earth's orbit to both destroy it and rebuild Cybertron. Now what has happened since Optimus left Earth? Political 180 degrees. Both Autobots and Decepticons have been coming to Earth non-stop. It is chaos with Optimus gone serving as leader for Autobots and Megatron in hiding. Yes he is calling himself Megatron again. Transformers are treated as illegal aliens and criminals world wide... Except for Cuba. The TRF is a taskforce created to hunt down Transformers. This doesn't sit well US military allies of the Autobots such as Moreshower, Lennox and Epps. Oh some Autobots are back from the dead. Topspin wasn't killed but is staying with Simmons on Cuba. Wheelie is part of Cade's crew. Cade has bee rescuing Autobots that just arrived and those in hiding. Simmons the conspiracy theorist that he is, is in contact with Sir Burton with the clue why giant metal horns are growing around the planet and why Cybertron is coming. He wants in to the Order. Edmund Burton is the last active member alive. Sam though a Witwicky himself isn't a member but has a place in the family legacy. Megatron as said is in hiding. Most of his Decepticons are incarcerated. Yes local laws apply to them now. Onslaught is not supposed to out of county lines! No extra judicial killings like NEST did in ROTF. TRF will kill you if they see you as a threat to public safety. Other Cons in custody are Dreadbot, in for bank robbery and murder he didn't even take the money, Mohawk, Nitro Zeus a Shockwave look alike with lots of bling and has a strange hate relationship with his jail guards, and Berserker who like brains and is treated like Hannibal Lecter. Berserker is the only one the government wont let out. In the ruins of Chicago city Autobots has been hiding there. Like Squeeks and Canopy who has befriended Izzy, a girl who lost her family during the Decepticon attack in DOTM. A bunch of kids went into the no go zone looking for TF stuff run afoul of Sentinels. TRF's Walker turrets hunting down Decepticons. A Knight's ship crashed earlier and its pilot is dying. Cade, Bee and Hound came to rescue him. Canopy got killed by a zealous TRF officer who can't tell Autobot from Decepticon and doesn't care ordering an airstrike. Cade and Bumblebee protects the kids and Sqweeks taking out the Sentinels and letting them out the Zone. Cade then tries to treat the bleeding Knight pilot but before "Steelbane" dies he gives Cade a Talisman that imprints on him. Making Cade the Last Knight. TRF tries to arrest Cade and his Autobots but is ordered to stand down by Lennox. A TRF sniper manages to place a tracker on Bee. While Barricade who was too late in reaching the Knight thus the McGuffin Megatron wants that is a clue to where the staff is. Megatron makes a plan to doublecross the Humans pretending he has the solution to Cybertron coming by going after Cade's crew. The old NEST managed to intercept Barricades communication plan to steal the staff from Megatron if he finds it believing it to be a weapon. Sir Burton sends Cogman to escort Cade back to him to give him what he knows. Also told Hot Rod to bring Merlin descendant Vivien to him. Her father was part of the Order. Cade has two human confederates. An American Indian Sheriff who lets the Autobots hide in his land aka junkyard. And a guy in glasses he duped. The Autobots on the Junkyard are Bumblebee, Drift, Crosshairs, Hound, Wheelie, Grimlock, Slug, three mini-Dinobots. Scorn and Strafe isn't around they are either in prison, hiding somewhere or in Cuba. An Autobot junk truck called Traitor occasionally visit bringing Con parts. He brought Starscream's head and from it a voice box for Bee. Hound bugs him if he has found the Knightship yet. Apparently Lockdown's mercs abandoned it somewhere. Izzy and Squeeks hitched a ride on Cade's truck joining the crew. Turns out to be a great medic performing a voice box transplant. Ratchet's spark must be rolling in his grave somewhere. She also transplanted a Con arm on Squeeks as he lost his. Megatron kidnaps some CIA agents in Africa releasing them. Offering a deal to get the Staff for them he gets his crew to work with. The lawyers lets have everybody he wants except for Berserker, Megatron had to settle for Onslaught. A Long Haul type Constructicon that transforms into a tanker truck. Oh yes Dreadbot and Berserker are Dread types. Megatron and crew plus the TRF with Lennox try to trap Cade and company but doesn't go as planned due to traps on an abandoned city, Mission City?, and the Dinobots Grimlock and Slug. Cogman brings Cade to England, Bee comes along, and Hot Rod kidnaps Viviene. Besides having a bulldog Sir Burton also has Buldog a WW1 Autobot tank that has seen better days. Still thinks it is WW1. Burton tells Cade and Viviene about the Knights of the Round Table and their counterparts the Knights of Cybertron and what Merlin took to his grave. Here is the thing nobody knew where his tomb is except Viviene's deceased father. He did leave some clue for her. The TRF come in to arrest them but escape thank to thanks to Hot Rod's time pause force fields. It is only a elay as they had to lose both Barricade and the TRF. Cade and Viviene go for her father's study where in her picture book are coordinates to a ship. Sir Burton meanwhile goes to find the book Simmons is leading him to. Discovering Earth is Unicron and Cybertron is Primus. Also the Horns are distributed as they are because of continental drift. The point where the Staff would be used is Stonehenge. They meet up along with Bumblebee to a tourist trap sub that turns out to be an Autobot. From there Cade, Vivienne, Cogman and Bee find the ship while Sir Burton meets with the Prime Minister to inform the government what he knows. It seems the Order was their version of Sector Seven. While Cade's group go for the ship as they are tracked down by the TRF. Meanwhile on the Junkyard the Knightship arrives as Traitor pulled through with the Autobots and Izzy boarding minus the Dinobots and Wheelie. Already Cybertron is in Earth's atmosphere its dangling pieces about to hit the surface like what it did with the Moon. Cade, Viviene, Cogman and Bumblebee enter the underwater ship with Lennox and the TRF following. They find the tomb of Merlin wondering where the staff is as what is inside was a stick. A skeletal Knight "Skullitron" wakes up attacks them. TRF fights off Skullitron making him fall. Viviene grabs the real staff which was on the casket cover. What happens next is a stand off between her and the TRF as they believe it to be a weapon and Viviene tells them she is the only one who can use it. They are interrupted by a pair of revived Knights that is promptly killed by Nemesis Prime. Nemesis threatens Viviene. Cade asks for the staff and gives it Optimus. Recognizing this isn't the Optimus he knew. Bumblebee and the TRF couldn't do anything as he leaves top side when the ship rises up. The TRF Evacs out. Cade group stays as Bumblebee chases Nemesis to retrieve the staff. A fight ensures where Optimus nearly kills Bumblebee until Cade said this is Bee and Bee spoke. Optimus snaps out of Quintessa's brainwash and is horrified as what he had done. Unfortunately Megatron and Nitro Zeus swoop in taking the Staff from Optimus and leaving as the Knights come out. The Knights see Optimus as a traitor who sided with Quintessa whom they call the Deceiver. As they were about to decapitate him Cade's talisman transforms into "Excalibur?" blocking the strike. Convincing the Knights to spare Optimus. The Autobots arrive with the Knighthip. Under Optimus, the Autobots, the Knights join with the TRF to stop Megatron and Quintessa from killing Earth. If Unicron is drained of his energy at Earth's core the magnetic field will disappear. Megatron activates the Staff at Stonehenge as it aligns with the Knights' tower ship and Cybertron above. Sir Burton tries to stop Megatron with a transforming gun but is killed later as the TRF fires at the Decepticons. Later Cogman grieves as he was his coolest master he ever had. Task done Megatron leaves for Cybertron where Quintessa is waiting for the staff from him. Yes Megatron is working for another Prime again. The war paint was a clue as Nemesis Prime had the same. Quintessa channels the energies through the staff fixing Cybertron bit by bit. Prime, the Autobots, Knights and TRF plan to infiltrate Cybertron. bring Viviene to the staff so she can stop the process. Getting on where the staff is wasn't easy due to the Decepticons under Megatron and an anti-aircraft turret. Plan B proposed by NASA is to destroy a tethering piece of Cybertron to destroy the Ignition chamber where Quintessa is. Izzy who stowed away, she is pretty good at this, convinces Squeeks to destroy the turret while Optimus and Drangonstorm swoops in taking out Infernicus and his sub-components. Lennox, Epps, Izzy and the TRF bail out in parachutes as the ground is about to fall. Optimus and his Autobots, Cade and Viviene march on as the Ignition chamber wasn't destroyed. They face Megatron and Quintessa as they are tumbling down to Earth. Viviene managed to stop the process assisted by Cade. Weightlessness and about to fall to their deaths Hot Rod saves them with a time forcefield allowing Optimus to scoop them up. They managed to escape alive. World is saved Yay! Except Cybertron is still parked in Earth's orbit and atmosphere and Unicron's horns are still growing. Optimus the Autobots and Knights leave for Cybertron. Prime acknowledges the threat of Unicron. At one of the horns a woman tells a scientist not to touch the horns as Unicron doesn't like that. She also tells him she knows how to kill him. This is Quintessa in disguise. As for dead Decepticons Onslaught is dead by decapitation so is Nitro Zeus, you can do that with the toy. Infernicons death by decapitation too. Mohawk though his head is separated is still alive. This movie adds to the lore certainly. Clearing up some discrepancies in TF origins. Primes and Creators are the same. The philosophy of the Six Primes and the Knights who were followers of Quintessa indicate a shame and vow to never again harm life. Ideals clash as the Transformers are likely made to fight Unicron. In terms of editing... Could have been better. too fast paced for me as I have a problem making a summary that I will need to watch again. Anyway I believe I've covered the major points. Oh yes Cade did make a call to his daughter in college but he can't speak as the government are after him. In the last movie he was a civilian caught in a conspiracy now he is the leader of a resistance. Yeah he is more of a leader than Bumblebee. Hound respects Cade as a father as Hound's father wasn't like that. Again shows since ROTF Transformers have parents. That culture is something they inherited from the Creators/Primes. At some point some Primes like Sentinel saw the creations of their ancestors as equals. But still think themselves as gods among bots. Â Edited June 23, 2017 by RedWolf c Quote

Might have to do that. I find myself after watching this and being mildly annoyed at the 'nods' to the 86 movie in The Last Knight, but I can say that this wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Likely the result of very low expectations. Don't get me wrong, if you didn't like any of the others you will NOT in any way like this. It's the just more of the same and despite 3 or 4 cool sequences the movie overall was very much what every negative review has said. I'm still not in favor of a reboot, I'd just love to see these exact characters handled by people that actually like Transformers and care about the movie that they're making. The fact that this it the first live action Transformers movie that I've gone to where the theatre was not packed bodes well for Bay not wanting to make any more since this one is not likely to have the same US box office as the other releases. My fingers crossed that he does not return  to the franchise. Ever. -b. Quote
mikeszekely Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 So, I just got back from watching this.  Everything about it is dumb.  The plot is dumb (and full of yet more plot holes and continuity errors), the old characters are dumb, the new characters are dumb, the blatant disregard for physics is dumb (and they seem to know that it's dumb, and the treatment of Anthony Hale's character seems to be almost a nod and a wink to that), the generic armored knight designs are dumb, revealing that certain things are Transformers but never having them transform is dumb, "witwiccans" are dumb, Hot Rod's accent is dumb... it's all dumb. Well, except for Anthony Hopkins.  He was freaking awesome. But anyway, everything you've heard is true.  The Last Knight is a bad movie, and not a "so bad it's good" movie, just a bad movie that only the most masochistic Transformers fans should watch. ...that said, I think it's actually an improvement from Age of Extinction.
