Jasonc Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 That looks amazing. Great work. I can't wait to get one myself. Quote
claude grant Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Great proof of concept! Hope this sees a production run. Quote
Kelsain Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Wow, that's amazing. Your work is worth the price, that's for sure. Quote
Xigfrid Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) Thank you all, this forum is an amazing place to gather ralents and anyone who wants to participate can help. I wouldn't have made it that far alone that's for sure! There is still a lot to do until this X-9 is done, but now the toughest part is behind us! Edited December 1, 2015 by Xigfrid Quote
derex3592 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 It looks like it will be well worth the wait! When I have this thing on a Yetistand flying between my Arcadia 19 and my Yamato 21, my world will be a better place!!! Quote
Mommar Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 All of this talk about Arcadia versus Bandai when we should really be asking when is Xigfrid going to finally release his VF-1. Quote
derex3592 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I was thinking more along the lines of Hovertanks.... Quote

Xigfrid Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 We demand a production runnn! Looks soo good. Keep up the good. Work & churn out more Macross goodies! I am facing a few weak points in the design in small areas involving moving parts or locking mechanism. Which are very difficult to fix compared to other areas. Also the metal parts keep on being rejected by Shapeways team... So at this point, the production run is farther than expected... Quote
Xigfrid Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) I couldn't believe until they arrived, the X-9 received few upgrades! Parked and deployed pictures ! Edited December 9, 2015 by Xigfrid Quote

Xigfrid Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 These metal parts had me all pumped up on this project, I have fixed most issues and trying to enhance a few other things in the process now Quote
Xigfrid Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Carrier Catapult hook? X-9 is smarter than these VFs commoners: it doesn't take off with a catapult, it launches with its own pod from submarines! Well mine can fold its wings so the launch pod is always a later possibility http://www.macross2.net/m3/macrossplus/x9-ghost/x9-ghost-launch-lineart.gif Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I'll say it again, Arcadia should hire you!! Or they could buy the blueprints and prototype and pay you for the design. Quote
Xigfrid Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 I'll say it again, Arcadia should hire you!! Or they could buy the blueprints and prototype and pay you for the design. If they want to, they can send me a PM, I am totally open to all kind of negociation. But seriously, that would be dreamfull if Arcadia actually wants to make a toy from my design, I would be glad to help. Quote

That is to be expected. Dealing with 3D printed parts of different materials is a challenge. I know this is a kit, but as I'm sure you know, in most good design, it's better to over reinforce, than to under, as it's like an insurance policy. The thickness of materials is really going to dictate the final material going into a recast, if that is the final plan. Overall though, this is a definite winner. I can't wait to see what the final product is going to look like. Quote

Xigfrid Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 I have been sanding the prototype parts and refining a few of them in CAD. Now it's time to order them from the 3D print services and the long wait before reviewing them starts again. Quote
Xigfrid Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Ha you are mentionning Sharon, I was wondering of making one Sharon in its computer form and make it enter into the drone as a form of pilot, but I thought it was too "off" from the official version where Sharon just hack into the drone control software I finally made 1:60 Sharon Apple who would perfectly pose with this drone. It's on the incoming test batch I called it "Sharon hacking into the X-9" Edited December 18, 2015 by Xigfrid Quote
Jasonc Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Awesome. Your work never ceases to amaze me. Quote
