sqidd Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 I looked all over for screws for this dude. This is what I found: 8mm screw https://www.metricscrews.us/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=98_298_304&products_id=1263 6mm screw https://www.mcmaster.com/91305A101/ If you need pins send me a PM. I'll figure out some economical way of getting them out to you and help cover my costs from buying bags between 50-100 (the only way I could find them). Quote
Convectuoso Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 I wish there was a 1/100 version of this Quote
Rogueload Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 So have you guys experienced the holes for the pins to go through the landing gears are not hollow? If so, what did you use to drill them out? Dremel? Drill? Kinda at a stand still with this X-9. Quote

If so, what did you use to drill them out? Dremel? Drill? Kinda at a stand still with this X-9. I bought a micro hand drill and a number of 1mm drill bits that I use to get through them. Those, if you buy more of these or even the 3D printed versions, are crucial to getting pins and screw holes lined up and clean. I would suggest, again if you're going to do other projects that are home designed, to get several micro drills in different sizes. I use the 1mm, but at times for larger 1.5 or 1.8mm holes, using those exact same drill bit. Edited August 12, 2020 by Jasonc Quote
Rogueload Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 @Jasonc thanks for the info. Picking up one of the hand drills for sure! Quote

Jasonc Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) So, I finally finished this project up, and I can't describe how much I love the finish. These pictures don't show how cool the color came out. It's a matte metallic finish, so although it has a metal finish, it can still show panel detail. Im not much of a photographer, so I couldn't get the color to show as well. Anyways, here she is. There's still some small corrections to make, but for the most part, I don't need to do anything major, so I'm happy about that. I'll most likely do that over the next day or so, but I was hoping to highlight the finish, which I can't do as well as it shows with the natural eye. Edited September 5, 2020 by Jasonc Quote

Is this red with a bit or orange added? From the pictures it looks like pumpkin or persimmon in color. Quote
Xigfrid Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 The metallic accents look nice, and it seems to self level quiet nicely too! Quote
MechTech Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I like the finish! It looks great, congrats Jason! Quote

It may be my camera and the light of the lamp. In natural light, it comes out much more red. 2 hours ago, Xigfrid said: The metallic accents look nice, and it seems to self level quiet nicely too! Thanks. I thinned the heck out of the paints, then had to do a few coats and make sure they all came out uniform. 1 hour ago, MechTech said: I like the finish! It looks great, congrats Jason! Thanks. Much appreciated. I actually learned quite a bit about this process in doing it. Quote
ErikElvis Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Just wondering how many pins you need for this? Quote
Jasonc Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 11 hours ago, ErikElvis said: Just wondering how many pins you need for this? In total, I believe it is 12 of various sizes. If you buy a decent number of 1mmx20mm pins, you can always cut down those to make proper sizes, but you do need (I believe) 2 1mmx20mm pins, a a few 12mm, maybe 4 10mm, and smaller from there. Most of them are in the landing gear. You also need 1.7x6mm self tapping round head screws, and 1.7x8mm of the same type. Quote

Anyway I just manage to do 1st prime for checking error and correction detail that missing from the print. With super parts And without super parts. I also added back those 3 triangles beside those vent engine like those original design. Here is the rest of the angle picture. Look like need to correct couple of holes gap between the plastic plate detailing and thinking of doing some upgrade detailing from the thruster engine part. Edited August 8, 2022 by chriswoo Quote
arbit Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Wow what a nice surprise. Really cool added details. As a side note, anyone complaining about nekro posting on Macrossworld is a bit of an oxymoron, since we are dealing with a 40 yr old show! Quote
