anubis20 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) I was actually wondering that myself. i kinda want the rainbow canopy on my 1D Edited April 15, 2015 by anubis20 Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 forgot where it was posted (way back) but it's not really possible bc the pieces that are glued together. Quote
Duymon Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 If you've ever built the VF-1 Kit you'll see it's pretty much a no go as the piece that locks the canopy in is secured by two pegs which are glued in. Pretty much removing that piece requires an exacto knife at min and you're not gonna get it off without some damage and maybe even slicing the pegs. Quote
master of macross Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 damn...ok tnks to all for resp...my vf1s roy weathering have canopy rainbow damaged... Quote
chyll2 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 if you want to remove all the rainbow effect, just clean the underside of the canopy with cloth damped with alcohol. Quote
DarrinG Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 My Millia canopy is messed up, but not Max. I really like the rainbow look too - wish I could swap hers out for a less ( or no ) cracked rainbow. . . Quote
master of macross Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 My Millia canopy is messed up, but not Max. I really like the rainbow look too - wish I could swap hers out for a less ( or no ) cracked rainbow. . . In fact, I also wish I could exchange the other glass with the 'rainbow intact ... Quote
DarrinG Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 The rainbow effect looked awesome, too bad it failed . . . Quote
spanner Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 My Millia canopy is messed up, but not Max. I really like the rainbow look too - wish I could swap hers out for a less ( or no ) cracked rainbow. . . Same with my Milia but it's not super bad though.. my Max is fine. So it must have been a bad batch of canopies during Milia production then eh.. :/ Not going to attempt a canopy swap! Quote
McFly!! Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 hmm... wonder if one of the modelers has a painting trick to replicate the effect? maybe an oil-based solution? Quote

Valkyrie addict Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 There is a way to get the canopy out, separate de cockpit from the rest of the valk, use one of steam things (carefully) where the canopy hinge is set, this will loosen the glue a bit and use a small prying tool to very carefully pry it out slowly until it comes off. You do have to be very very careful to not break the canopy or dent the glued piece. Do not use a heat gun. Quote
DarrinG Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I might try to replace my Millia one if I had a perfect rainbow canopy as a donor . . . Quote
