start with the center of the ship, then the bridge part... then the side thrusters, and then from there you can build rest in which ever order you wish..

hope that helps

This is the most amazing piece of craftsmanship I have ever seen. Bravo, sir. Please keep the updates coming. I really hope an accurate TV SDF-1 will be made someday. Obviously not to the level of detail you have done....I’m just disappointed that Hasegawa really dropped the ball on their kit. I only recently became a fan of the ship...both versions....and want an accurate TV version to go with the readily available accurate DYRL Refit version. Thanks for all your hard work on this project. It’s a joy to watch and I’m in awe of your skill.

CAme here looking for detail pics of the SDF-1 for my Hasegawa 1/4000 and not disapointed.
Can't believe this is papercraft

I've never tried paper craft, might give it a shot one day.

Holy crap, this kit is going for over $80 now on AJ

It is always a treat for me to see everyone's in-progress builds and project completions. Those prints cale out really nice for that scale. I can't imagine the patience needed to paint things that tiny and at the numbers I imagine you are going to want. :clapping:

Where did you get the files for those?

I've got a photon resin printer that needs some testing.

Congratulations!  What model of printer did you buy?

Elegoo Mars 3 4k

Cool! I have the Mars 2.  Best thing I learned is to use the default settings for the printer for each resin.

Never had a bad print with the Mars 2 except from user error.

I think you are really going to like the Elegoo 4k.

If I might make a suggestion: It looks like your small-scale valk wings are disintegrating.  I have had the same problem when scaling 3D objects down.

Sometimes, for 3D Printing very thin objects, you need to "solidify" them, i.e. make them thicker.  3D Builder, Netfab and Microsoft 3D Repair fix a lot of problems, but they will not solidify an object for you.

One option you can use right away is Meshmixer to "Make Solid". You can check youtube for some tutorials.  It is a trial and error process to make an object solid using different "Offset" parameters, until you get a result you like which thickens, yet maintains a nice appearance.  In some case you may thicken an entire model, or in other cases you may separate parts to thicken an individual part of the model giving problems.

Another option is to use Blender "Solidify" Modifier as a first step before Meshmixer, to give a completely non-3d model some depth.

Additionally, in whatever design software you use like Blender, you can select specific parts of a model that are too thin to print and thicken them using various techniques (such as fatten, extrude, scale).

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for that info, I'll look into it.

What you see on the wing is a leftover fragment from the support that I forgot to remove

This is off the hook!

Looks like a cool Macross City addition. I was thinking we need a 3D designed Macross City that fits in the 1/3000 and the 1/4000 SDF-1 leg.
