666kaktyc666 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) hi! I bought to restore the VF-1 Roy Focker (??) - but, unfortunately, not been able to find information about the manufacturer of the model. I was confused, painting (perhaps the first owner repainted it myself - the history of the VF-1 do not know, maybe bought from a man who knows nothing about the toy - just confused and rough assembly and chassis made of plastic) Thanks for any info Edited March 11, 2015 by 666kaktyc666 Quote
chyll2 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I am not familiar with the whole VF-1 Toy history but the color scheme and jolly rogers alone is enough to call it fake. Plastic and fitting quality is also sub-par even for an old age toy. And last, the fact that it has no manufacturer marking or even Big West marking means it is a fake product or unofficial product. 666kaktyc666 Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 painting looks as if it repainted Quote
spanner Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 that sure looks pretty sketchy at best to me.. hope you didn't pay much money for it! I have no doubt there are copies out there but even this thing looks very poor fit and finish.. even for a 1/55! Quote
Valkyrie Driver Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) The proportions are way off, and it looks nasty. even for 13 bucks I'd say you got ripped off. Even banprestos weren't this bad. If you're looking for a decent VF-1 toy for ~$15, look into the Toynami 1/100's they're loads better. Edited March 10, 2015 by Valkyrie Driver Quote
enphily Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 13 баксов это конечно немного, но всё равно фиговая моделька, вряд ли она принесёт много радости P.S. sorry for russian language Quote

enphily Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Это я писал остальным. Всё-таки форум англо- и испаноязычный, поэтому не очень правильно здесь по-русски писать Quote
CF18 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It's a low quality knock off of the 1:55, with metal part replaced with plastic. Some google search result: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/submissions/jeremy_housdan/_carded_valkyrie.htm http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=12390 Back before year 2000 when Yamato Toys didn't exist yet, there were no new VF-1 toy or model coming out for many years, and a few here would hunt for those as cheap options. Valkyrie Driver Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I can see that. Still, This doesn't even look like the manufacturer tried. Quote
jvmacross Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 привет!
treatment Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 not sure why you're typing in cyrillic or whatever on an english website, but the toy you attached is a bootleg. Quote
Sebastian Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 that is 100000% FAKE I remember those bootlegs. It is a Copy of the 1990 type VF 1S Supervalkyrie released by Bandai. No die cast parts, brittle plastic and lousy paint job. Quote
derex3592 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 somebody send this poor guy a Yamato Ver.1 they don't want anymore..cause dear LORD that thing is horrid!!! Quote
Valkyrie Driver Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Agreed. I'd send him mine, but alas it is broken... (Also it's a TRU anniversary, so there's that). Quote
666kaktyc666 Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Thank you all for your answers .I from the beginning suspected that it is a fake .When I was 7 y.o - sold only such VF-1 - this toy was bought more as "an element of nostalgia" Quote
treatment Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 As long you didn't pay too much for it, then it's all good. Better than nothing for now. Like somebody else already said, maybe some generous member here can donate to you at least a better toy that they're not using anymore. Quote
Gakken85 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 100000 % fake. Lol. This post gave me a good laugh Quote

I have a couple of weeks ago started collecting VF-1 (ordered from Japan a few figures from Wave ) and bought a kit from Bandai 1/72 . if someone from the members of the forum is ready to sacrifice unnecessary VF-1, I will be very happy Agreed. I'd send him mine, but alas it is broken... (Also it's a TRU anniversary, so there's that). if you say seriously - I am ready to even buy it. 100000 % fake. Lol. This post gave me a good laugh I am glad that my post made you day , but, in 1991, in Moscow not to sell other VF-1, especially since there was no information on the original toys -This was bought as "an element of nostalgia" for childhood. Valkyrie Driver Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I couldn't do that, in good conscience, it's broken, and the plastic has become brittle (I don't know how, but the backpack broke off during the course of transformation). It probably wouldn't survive the trip. It does hold a bit of nostalgia for me, it was my first Yamato toy. I suggest picking up one of the new arcadia VF-1's they're an improvement over the version 2 which was worlds better than the version 1. I promise you'll be more pleased with the Arcadia. As a matter of fact Arcadia is releasing a VF-1J with the armor set in May, that Hobby Link Japan has listed for 21,420 yen (about 176.74 USD, or 166.43 EUR). Which is a fantastic deal if you ask me... Quote

Valkyrie Driver Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 In what ways are the Arcadia VF-1s improved over the Yamato V2s? The arcadia is actually just a reissue of the yamato v2.1. They fixed the shoulders (the v2.0 had a splined rod that tended to crack the hinge), they got rid of the rainbow tinting on the canopy which tended to peel off, and the widened the notch on the panel that attaches the swing bar to the nose in battroid mode. The V2.0 had a narrow notch that required some fiddling, on the V2.1 they made the notch wide enough to pass over the whole hinge. Minor tweaks, that made the transformation easier, and improved the durability of the toy. I have a v2.0 VF-1S Super/Strike Focker, I have had no issues, but there is some scuffing on the tint. That's why it's a v2.1 instead of a v3... Arcadia may have done some other things that I don't know about, but those were the big ones that came to mind. Quote
chyll2 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 from what I learned with Anymoon/Jenius, is that yamato has v2.0, v2.1, v2.2 Arcadia is using the safest which is 2.2 and I think no difference has been made to the actual toy (other than a change on the WHITE plastic and paint they are suing) that it might be called v2.3 Quote
idontknow Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 666Katyc666, Do you not have VF-1 Bandai Chunky Monkey or V1 /V2 from Yamato/Arcadia? Quote
Old Man Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Okay, that's what I thought. I knew about the different iterations, but was sorta lumping them all together with the word "V2". In that sense, I wouldn't call the Arcadia version an "improvement" over Yamato's efforts. Does Arcadia have anywhere close to the tampo detail that Yamato's 2.2 had? Quote

From what I've seen, the Arcadia VF-1S Focker had the same level of Detail that my v2.1 Yamato VF-1S Focker. Quote
