apologies in advance if I posted this in the wrong section.. mods please move to correct place if need be!

I found this on the lego website! a fully transformable Lego VF-1S with super parts!

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/39360

I wonder if this is from some one on this forum!? I haven't ever seen this before!

The builder had nearly 3000 supporters so far, with a target of 10,000 before lego will take this up for consideration.

Personally I would buy one of these! We should show our support!

I love the idea, but this is going to be a tough license to crack.

Maybe if enough of these projects hit 10,000, like the GBP and VF-1J, someone will pay attention?

That VF-1J already made the review and didn't made it to product. Given the fraked up situation with Macross international license I doubt even the most powerful brand of the world can make it work.

Yeah. I'm an optimist, so I didn't want to crush the OP's hope for this project. I agree that it would be easier if the license wasn't a mess. Maybe someday we'll have Lego Macross like we'll soon have Lego Doctor Who:

Yeah i totally didnt think about the Macross licensing factor.. and i only just saw that another Lego VF1 still got rejected after it made it to 10,000 supporters.. its a shame as i still really like Lego as i grew up with it and it would have been very cool to have this kit and relive many childhood memories!

I know the licence is a mess, so it makes seeing this come to fruition nearly impossible. But what exactly is it about the Macross licence that makes it impossible? there's some kind of crap with Harmony gold, but I don't know the whole story. You don't have to try to explain it if y'all don't want to, just pointing me in the right direction would be fine.

But seriously, this would be fricking amazing. If we can see this in my lifetime, things would be great. When I have kids they'll get introduced to Macross, because I have SDFM and M+ on DVD, and all the other series on a HDD, and a bunch of the toys...

Getting these licensed wouldn't be impossible, but there would be some obstacles to overcome. The biggest would be how much Lego is willing to pay out in licensing fees. If Lego wanted to release these sets worldwide, they'd have to pay licenses fees to both Big West and Harmony Gold. They'd have to pay Big West to license the sets in Japan and pay Harmony Gold for the rest of the globe.

On top of that, from what I hear, licenses from Big West and Harmony Gold don't come cheap. While Lego has no problem paying top dollar for pop culture licenses, such as Star Wars and Harry Potter, would it make financial sense to pay a pretty penny for a niche market like Macross/Robotech?

Lastly, Lego would have to agree to put a Toynami logo on any sets it releases outside of Japan. You see, Harmony Gold has designated Toynami as their exclusive toy distributor for Macross/Robotech, essentially setting up Toynami as world's (excluding Japan) gatekeeper for Macross/Robotech toys. Given Toynami's controversial reputation when it comes to Robotech/Macross toys, would Lego be willing to potentially tarnish their brand by pairing it up with Toynami's?

Im still waitng on Maxvf1s instruction. i really want to build one of my own so i dont have to pay Big Money for Yamato. Yamato is cool but so Expensive! God i wish i could just make a Lego Army of my own.

i could also always try and Add Stickers to them from any of the Macross Model Kits. do they sell Stickers on there own for the kits?
