AcroRay Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 A nice option if you can't get the 1/3000 Takatoku toy... or your 1/3000 Takatoku toy is horribly yellowed. Quote
Jefuemon Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Got mine today! Have to go to work soon, pics will have to wait a bit. First portion of the book Macross TV series information, doing the main mechs, characters, and a brief episode by episode synopsis. They also talk a little bit about the other Macross series. Middle portion is an interview with Kazutaka Miyatake. Then, the last half of the book is the papercraft. 20 pages of parts printed on thick glossy paper. You will have to cut everything, no perforated parts. Looks like you can build either as cruiser mode, or storm attack, but if you're skilled at papercraft, you could probably switch between the two no problem. Quote
spanner Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 im very curious to see how elaborate these things are to build compared to a plastic kit!? @Jefuemon.. will be interesting to see you build pics! Quote
AcroRay Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) There is a whole realm of techniques, materials and tools unique to papercraft. However, some careful research and buying a couple of inexpensive tools will help tremendously, and will help you with your other hobbies as well. For example, when working with papercraft or anything related to precision cutting of paper (or decals), I highly suggest adding and X-acto designer's ruler to your toolbox. They're available anyplace that has tools for 'scrapbooking'. (I happened across mine in the craft section of a WalMart.) Since the thick metal ruler has sharp, square edges rather than the rounded safety edges typical to most rulers, your cutting blade will keep in precise alignment. Also, to make your models look less like paper, I find it very helpful to swipe some colored pencil or marker along cut edges, to retouch away the white along the cut paper edge (unless that bit is supposed to be white). Just need to wait 5-7 days to ship, i.e. they have no immediate stock but can get more from distributor. Listed retail price is 1850yen or around US$15 today. Shipping starting from cheapest option at 700yen to US/Canada. 7pm EST: Now it is out of print at CDJ. Damn this thing is popular. Edited March 4, 2015 by CF18 Quote
