Does your other half buy toys for you?

This is my first ever poll on MW. (Mods if you deem this unworthy of poll-hood please feel free to remove it )

What prompted this poll you ask? Well today my wife surprized me and said "Look I bought you some toys for your collection!" A bit taken back I cautiously opened the bag. Inside was a Non-Macross toy consisting of broaderline hentai Devil-Man Figures with mouths and teeth in places on a girl where those mouths and teeth should not be. Of course I smiled and said thank you. (When she goes to bed I will then take pics of it and list them on ebay.

So basically this poll is to find out if your "Other-half" knows you well enough to buy the proper toy for your collection, because my wife doesn't.

Please feel free to add commentary as you see fit. Yes I know this is open invite for trouble.

I have I wonderfull wife... I must say.

Even when she hates my toys and models she allways tries her best to make me happy. Last year she gave me a PG Zaku for my B Day, this year a PG GP 01 and for Christmas an air brush set!

Yep, she knows me and pretty well even wen she hates what she buys for me she knows it will make me happy.

Edit. The Airbush set SUCKS... but she tried!

I voted "Sometimes". Usually the wife only buys me toys on special occasions such as my birthday or Christmas. She never picks the toy out herself though, I always tell her specifically which ones to buy. This Christmas, for example, she bought me a 1/48 Hikaru 1S...man I love my wife .

although,i'm single now,all the girlfriends i've had in the past would have purchased any macross toy(or other) if they knew i wanted it. i guess the key is letting them know how important your hobbies are to you. when i took my girl to otakon in august. i had to stop her from buying me too much. she just said to pick what macross stuff i liked & she'd hook it up.

Not unless she specifically points it out and says "buy me this in this size".

Basically, neither one of us wants to screw up, so we stick to things we won't get wrong on personal gifts. I'd hate to imagine what kinda crap toys I'd end up with otherwise.

MY WIFE ROCKS!!! She buys me toys...normally gets the right thing...and she isn't scared to ask what I want. Plus, when I show her I don't get hit or mocked. Recently I showed her pictures of the PG Gundam GPF01B (I think thats it...the new PG Gundam) It's $205 at HLJ (or there abouts) before S+H. I showed her and said "Isn't this cool?" She agreed!!!! Not..."What the ()$#&Y(* is wrong with you, I'm not buying you ANOTHER model to sit in your GD closet! " Anyways..while she didn't buy it for me for Christmas she did get me my first reissue 1/55, my first Super Yamato 1/60, and my first 1/48 Hikaru 1A, not to mention a few Hasegawa models and a 1/72 Ghost resin kit.

I guess I shouldn't complain, she did try. And I should be grateful for that. And she doesn't get mad when I buy toys for myself, most of the time.

My wife finally acknowledged my obsession with Macross toys and Giant Robots in general.

This year she got me the 1/60 Elintseeker.

I was afraid she was going to ignore that portion of "the list" entirely, but she surprised me!

Now that we've bought a condo, I'm sure she'll keep reminding me to keep the pursestrings tight.

If a 1/48 VF-0D comes out next year, I'll get a second job if I have to to pay for it!

Nothing Hentai in the house. Small child you know (Plus on on the way). I am pretty sure she gets it from the way most Japanese people feel about Americans. The general belief is that all Americans are that way based on our Porn Industry and how they see "Americans" act on TV and in the Movies. Although I don't think the Japanese have much to say about considering what the feel is morally acceptable and what is not. Basically anything goes as long as it is semi-censored and it is without an age limit.

But your guess is as good as mine.

Well I am in Taiwan, but I came from LA, CA.

When I was single, many girls would love to get to know me because they said I would be more "experienced", "gentle" , and "open". And I asked why, they said, "you are from USA, where they are so open about sex!"

Next thing I knew, (after a couple of years) I married a Taiwanese girl, now with one son, and another to come...

In regard to coke, that's the only thing I would drink when I arrived in Taiwan, didn't dare to drink any other stuff...so I just made a lucky guess there!

The only things my girl buys me that can be considered toys are video games. She frowns upon my Macross collection and would never put any money into "something this childish". Plus, I'ts a good thing. If she knew how much Macross toys cost I would never be able to buy another one. She thinks the 1/60's cost about 20 bucks and the big ones about 40.

My GF doesn't buy me toys, at least not the kinds we collect here, mainly because I told her not to. She doesn't make a lot, and I don't want her to spend that much money on toys for me either, especially risk buying something that I don't really need. But I like showing her SOME (Yup. Only some , otherwise I'll be in trouble ) of the cool toys I got recently at the time. She is not into robot anime, and have a hard time telling the difference between Macross & Mazinger, but she likes some of my toys sometimes, as long as I didn't spend too much on them. Which is cool. She does get me small cute things though, which I happen to like as well.

I nearly fainted this Christmas when my girlfriend surprised me with a 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J w/ FAST Packs (okay, so technically it was a pre-order slip from Twin Moons, but I should have "my preciousss" in hand by the end of the week or so...right Tam? )!!

I'm still in shock. Upon opening a "Someone must really love you.." card, I didn't know what to feel...I ran the gamut of emotions from excited to amazed to guilty (she spent way too much money on me!), ultimately coming to the conclusion that I simply have to marry this woman... not because she bought me expensive stuff, but because of the shear trouble/effort/research she went through (and always goes through) just to make me smile. She told me she knew "this would be the ultimate gift" and was right on the mark. Even though she doesn't understand my hobbies, she appreciates the fact that these valks make me happy, and is willing to go the extra mile. I love this girl!

My fiancee has tried to buy me collectable toys before in the past and it always ends up bad... but you can't blame her because she usually buys things for me based on the horrid and always wrong info given to her by overinflated stock boys and dip-sheet electronics counter clerks.

But what she does buy me (and get right every time) are things that other MW members might take offense to... very, very hard to find firearms parts and accessories. She is the one who found me an original XM177 series upper and barrel... and that is almost impossible!

Sometimes, yes... my girlfriend hooks me up. Unfortunately on a college budget it can never be very much...but she tries! She acknowledges my hobby and is very excited when I pick up a new model or something (she keeps bugging me to finish my Yellow Sub Storm attacker). She flinched a little when she found out how much I was paying for a 1/48, but then she smiled and said "well, you earn your own money and you keep your bills paid, so I guess I shouldn't complain.... don't break it."

And that, my friends, is more than I could ever ask for in a companion.
