DrEmilLang Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I'd like to get the thing apart and print a more exact SDFM cockpit for it, but I'm afraid of breaking parts just prying stuff out. Any pointers would be helpful. (My worst-case is just sawing/drilling the tops off of everything and just modeling the visible portions, but I'd prefer to have it all accessible.) Quote
chyll2 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 It pretty much glued. Hoping as well if someone has successfully dis-assembled it. Quote
Xigfrid Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The 1st step, and most difficult one, is to disassembly the A01 part (fig 3-07). This one is tightly fit in the Unpaint version, and I don't know if it is glued in standard V2 releases. Once A01 is disassembled, it should be as simple as unscrew and detach. Quote
chyll2 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 A01 is very loose on my unpainted version. Even with paint, it still moves a lot. The scrap VF-1A that I got for the Strike Parts though is heavily glued that it wont even move. Maybe some will be lucky if they got a piece that has less glue used. A07 is also glued as well so you cant remove the canopy without destroying the male connector of A07. I only understood now that you only want to modify the cockpit. While everything is glued inside the canopy, it is not really sandwiched between A08 and A09. Quote
DrEmilLang Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Yeah. A01 is glued. I can get everything unscrewed enough to start separating A08 and A09, but A01 is the "keystone", and there's no disassembling A02 and A04 to get 8 and 9 loose. Maybe I'll get lucky and find someone who only needs the back half of their unassembled kit Quote
