sh9000 Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 If the Minmay figure from the Fan Liner or modified Minmay from the VF-1D don’t work out, I might just alter and repaint a Minmay from the VT-1 to fit inside the VF-1D. Quote

I see now it seems to be a little lighter compared to the body...I cant really tell the difference viewing it from my phone or pc..but after zooming in i detect a slight difference... will await the verdicts as it rolls in.... No, the orange of the colored plastic (chest) is clearly different from the orange paint (legs, wings). Quote
seti88 Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Hmm then I really don’t see the difference. Will await the real copy. Quote

seti88 Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 (edited) What a comparison ....The yamato 1D orange looks really bright comparing to hmr... bandai made the 1D canopy different from the super O, I tot they wouldn’t have bothered.. thanks for the comparison tekering...how did you find the orange on the hmr 1D, was it as evenly colored in itself? ie was the orange color on fuselage, wings or legs visibly different from each other? lovely pics! rdrunner Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 (edited) Thanks very much @tekeringfor the detailed comparison. I was trying to highlight a paint difference in fighter mode yesterday but didn’t describe it well. The circled area in the HMR 1D is different to both the Yamato and the HMR super O. To me it’s a step back from the super O and it bugs the hell out of me that Bandai didn’t so the same thing with the 1D. I like my 1D in fighter mode and that is an eyesore to my OCD eyes.. It's just Bandai cheaping out, as usual. That's how they get ya. Cut a little corner here, a little corner there. Don't paint the back cover, stop painting the navigational lights, "accidentally" give you two left leg armor pieces because for some ungodly reason they didn't make the same number of left and right pieces, only one seated pilot figure for a two seater aircraft, etc. Quote

beatsing Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 nice pics tekering. looks like there's more leg room for minmay in the 1D vs the Ostrich. Like the airlines these days, shrinking that leg room Quote

I have that VT-102 screenshot from episode 1 etched in my mind, so to me that is THE official colour as well. But there is really no excuse for Bandai's laziness/corner cutting for that small piece. I am a big fan of valks in Fighter mode, and the 1D is one of my all time favourite from the TV show. This has ruined the HMR 1D for me. 5 hours ago, Lolicon said: It's just Bandai cheaping out, as usual. That's how they get ya. Cut a little corner here, a little corner there. But they had already done that colouring for the Super O, and that's what I can't understand. I even thought about swapping the two covers, but then realized that the 1D has two tiny antennae when the Super O only has one. Quote

Can you post a pic of the VF-1D with the included Hikaru figure in the cockpit and the Minmay that comes with the VT-1 sitting in back? Also a comparison pic of Hikaru from the VF-1D next to the Hikaru from the VF-1J? Thanks. 25 minutes ago, Backlight1 said: Hello guys this is my first reply ever. Or better yet, you can have a custom Supers too. Problem solved. Quote

Well... let's just say I will not be putting super packs on to the 1D in a hurry... Yes I can leave it in Gerwalk and Battroid modes, but I was really hoping that the fighter mode would look decent - especially when Bandai went through the trouble of re-molding the elongated canopy for a two-seater, unlike the Super O or the VE-1. Not often do we get a transformable 1D toy (not model kits) that get the canopy shape right. The HMR could do it because it didn't need to worry about the length of the heat shield during transformation. To me it's something that bothers me when I look at the fighter mode, especially knowing that they could have got the colouring correct easily (and they have done so on the VT-1). But enough of my OCD nitpicking - I'm sure lots of people will still love the HMR VF-1D and I promise I will (try) not mention this again Quote
DewPoint Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Well, it really is an old argument. We all know that the show (SDFM) was riddiled with production errors. Lots of things look different from one scene to the next. It's really hard to say what is 100% correct. I'm sure that this won't be the last time where someone feels like Bandai cheaped out on details. Quote
Lolicon Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 It doesn't disappoint me because my expectations for HMR VF-1s is pretty damn low. I know what level of quality to expect from Bandai. Quote
PteranodonMom Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Great, I broke my VF-4 trying to transform it from Gerwalk to battroid mode. The heat shield snapped in two when I was putting pressure on the nose to swing down. What do all of y'all do when you end up breaking a figure? Quote
