Sandman Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Got me all excited. I thought the preorder was open again. GRRRR. Quote
Valkyrie Griffon Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I just cancelled one of each of the Armored and Strike Valks on Amazon Japan. Not sure how fast, or even if, they will relist them but anyone still in Japan or willing to use a forwarding service might want to keep an eye out and try to catch them if they relist. Just checked and both already showed up again for anyone looking: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B010N3JPKO http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00WX6SA5Q Quote
sh9000 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Can't wait to get my Armored VF-1J and VF-1S Strike Hikaru to go with my VF-1J Max, Regults, and Armors. Building up a nice collection of 1/100 Valkyries and enemy mecha. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=125383 Edited August 25, 2015 by sh9000 Quote
koonfasa Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 So that Hi Metal Monster is going to be much the same size as the Yamato one at 1/100? And what does a 1/100 Battlepod/Regault look like next to a 1/60 Valk? Quote

Valkyrie Driver Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Dang-o man, those regults are huge... Quote
barurutor Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The valkyries were built to fight the zentrans, who sat *inside* the regults, of course the regults would be huge. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 So that Hi Metal Monster is going to be much the same size as the Yamato one at 1/100? And what does a 1/100 Battlepod/Regault look like next to a 1/60 Valk? Should be bigger because the MkII Monster is bigger than the König Monster. I think Bandai is going to fudge the scale, it's not going to be true 1/100. Quote
sh9000 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 If Bandai goes through with releasing the Hi-Metal R Monster, it wil be an instant buy for me. Quote

jenius Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I think those Toynamis are off scale, I think I measured then at 1/80 or something. Anyone have a tape measure that can confirm? Quote
mog_kupo Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Release date September 19 http://tamashii.jp/item_schedule/201509/ Quote

derex3592 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I'll get some of these Bandai 1:100 Valks down the road cheap hopefully to display with my Toynami and model Regults. They will look good together Quote
spanner Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Dang it.. when they gonna announce the HWR!? its the only one from the Hi-Metal R line.. Quote
Lolicon Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Close enough. Still looks good to me with my 1/100 Hi-Metal Valkyries. 10 on 1? That's not fair! You'd need at least 4 or 5 times that number of Zentradi to have a chance at even scratching Max. Edited August 27, 2015 by Lolicon Quote
sh9000 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Haha. Yep. Here's another one of my favorites that I posted earlier. Almost getting kicked in the mean bean machine. Edited August 27, 2015 by sh9000 Quote

jenius Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 So there's extra parts that make it look like it's out of missiles? Seems a little gratuitous to me. It looks like there might be more metal, particularly hinges in the arms but I don't have one handy right now to compare. Quote
antibiotictab Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Dengeki Hobby page on the VF-1J Armor: http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/101183/ Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=160&v=_VYiUUbOfbg I wanted to introduce the video, but couldn't. Because Matt Alt speaks Japanese in it. Quote
mickyg Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Wow. That last bit was cool too. I had no idea he spoke English. I'm all kinds of jealous now of his ability to speak Japanese. Looks like a great little toy! Quote
Keiichi Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Wow. That last bit was cool too. I had no idea he spoke English. I'm all kinds of jealous now of his ability to speak Japanese. Looks like a great little toy! Hah yeah, the end caught me off guard too. It's definitely looking good. Nice to see they've added the UN Spacy tampo to the legs after all (though the font could be a little skinnier). Quote
calubin_175 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Matt Alt looks young as hell for a white guy his age. Japanese look super young, even in their early 40s due to genes and diet. I think Matt Alt's Japanese diet since living there must have helped. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Matt Alt looks young as hell for a white guy his age. Japanese look super young, even in their early 40s due to genes and diet. The running gag among Asians is that it happens much later, but all at once. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Dengeki Hobby page on the VF-1J Armor: http://hobby.dengeki.com/news/101183/ Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=160&v=_VYiUUbOfbg It looks like the paint on the new Hi-Metal is a darker shade compared to the previous toy. The "white" looks to have a grayish tint, and the red likewise has a darker tone. I've always thought it curious the way Bandai renders the chest stripes on the VF-1J. Even going back to the 1/55 chunky, they always rendered the chest stripes as a slanting line connected to a horizontal line, like this: rather than two slightly angles lines like this. What's curious is that Bandai renders the VF-1S chest stripes in the latter manner, which is closer to the line art. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Cool observation, hadn't noticed it before!! Quote
CF18 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 The shoulder ball joints are plastic in my old version VF-1S, but are metal in the new one. The intake covers are flat gray in old, looks metallic in new. Quote
jenius Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I hope the backpack with boosters isn't too floppy, it looked questionable in the video. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 So....DYRL/TV hybrid pilot uniform? I guess Bandai also missed the opportunity to just go full DYRL and sell it as a GBP-1J "DYRL" version..... Still looks good and look forward to more from the Hi-R metal line! The shoulder ball joints are plastic in my old version VF-1S, but are metal in the new one. The intake covers are flat gray in old, looks metallic in new. "Hi-R" metal content? Quote
Scyla Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) That looks pretty cool. And it has the "1" printed on the chest armor. Edited September 10, 2015 by Scyla Quote
