Tonight I caved on the Messer figure, I really like the way the color scheme works on it, more so than on the 31F (being less than half the price also helps) I really need to stop coming to these forums so much.... Me too Quote

charger69 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 RD Patlabors are 1/60ish, so you need a Tiny City Diorama (1/64) to fit in... Tiny 1/64 city sets are very hard to find unfortunately. Quote
seti88 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) Wowsers! Talk abt a place to put all your figs... On the labors was referring to the latest robot spirit ones..Granted am not sure of their scales on paper, but they look as of they could scale well in too. As usual Macross World is a crack den! Streetlights, foliage, traffic lights, signage, people... Lots of detail to be added yet. And then, of course, I've got to begin distressing the buildings... Adding rubble and debris... Smashed buildings, broken glass... It's all still too clean and colorful...! To be continued... Fantastic work! I love it. Mind sharing how the roads and sidewalks are done? Also do you have a background in there or is your diorama actually huge? I have a hard time distinguishing where it ends! The overhead power lines (if real and not background) really makes it convincing. If you don't mind sharing an overview of your setup that would be great. I have a temporary rail layout in N scale using similar buildings, and also did some quick phone pics with HMR in it posted in the strike a pose thread. Nothing quite as fancy as yours! Quote

Read your previous post hours ago and didn't see this until I've posted the above reply. The setup looks great and is indeed huge! Looks like some photoshopping was involved to add the sky background. What about the overhead wires? Quote

Depending on the angle of some shots one can't tell how small some of the buildings actually are to HMR scale. I imagine a 1/90-1/100 scale city diorama to be even more huge! Quote

I wish I had the patience to put something like that together. Very, very well done! Also, I don't know if anyone is still looking for the HMR Monster, but Jungle Toys has one for ¥17,280. If you haven't used them before, they do charge a 5% on top of the price for international customers (if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I ordered from them) so factor that into whether it's a good deal for you or not. I wish I had the cash to grab a third one, but I am way overspent for the next couple of months. Ah, collecting! Edited May 3, 2017 by Thessair Typo. Quote

Mommar Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 My effects parts finally showed up last night. I feel like they're a huge missed opportunity. The contrails could have had balls attached to the ends so the angles of the contrails could be adjusted a little bit. And there's no attachment to make it look like missiles are firing from the super packs. I'm pretty underwhelmed by them. Quote

The "stand" they come with is just re-used tamashii display stand stuff (glaug comes with the same thing). I'm not a huge fan of reaction missiles, they are ok, but they weren't selling me on the set. The only thing I really liked was the missile pod effect, but there were only 2 of those. I wasn't going to pay $50+ for something I was only interested in 1/3rd of. The more I looked at it, the more I realized it simply wasn't worth it, to me. It's a shame, like you said. Something like this could really help pull off the iconic missile-heavy fights of the show, but it seemed like they half-assed it. If they released only the missile pod effects, in say a 4 pack, I'd be all over it, but I doubt that will every happen (maybe 3d printing, someone?). Edited May 3, 2017 by HardlyNever Quote
sh9000 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) If the missile effects can be customized for other missiles then they're going to be even more fun. At least for me. Edited May 3, 2017 by sh9000 Quote

If you want as accurate then the 1/200 is too small. But if you just want to pimp it up, then eyeball it first if the decals too small for the Destriods esp the big decal ones such as the unit numbers '01', etc. But if it's just the small ones like warning and stuff, eyeball it if it's going to look nice.
