abbadon Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wow that Monster is huge! I don't even know where I would put that thing. Maybe under my bed. Quote
Lorindor Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I have a place on top of my book shelf reserved for this one. Or the vinyl Monster if that wasn't just vaporware. Shouldn't this one be a bit bigger than the König Monster? Quote
arbit Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 It looks a lot bigger than the Koenig to me. Quote
Tochiro Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Alrighty, heres all the Macross-related pics I took at Wonder Festival today. Enjoy :-) http://www.macrossworld.com/wonder-festival-2016-winter-photo-gallery/ Quote
derex3592 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I'm all in. Those who don't grab this will regret it. Quote
lavinrac Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I dont have sticker shock so much as I just have never been a huge fan of the monster.. So its an easy pass for me. I have paid that for Metal Gundams.. and a few other things. Also.. Yea. the Detolf Comment. it wont fit in my shelves! Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I feel the price is fair, that thing is huge, and will come wih tampo everything. 1/100 scale is the perfect scale for completist, there are many models of the same scale of obscure valks. Quote
mechaninac Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I'm sure the Monster will be available at discounts ranging from 5% to 15%+ from the usual sources when pre-orders go up. It is expensive, but it's huge, and it's not like it's way beyond the range of prices Macross collectors are willing to pay recently (before discounts, VF-0S = ¥34800, VF-4G = ¥27000, etc. -- the HWR-00 does not transform, true, but that does not mean it's all that much cheaper to engineer and produce). The real sticker shock, I expect, will be how much this sucker will cost to ship. Quote
Universe1010 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Wow, the monster is expensive. I'll probably gonna skip it unless I can get it for a much better price. I can not justified this non transformable thing costing more than a transformable Chogokin. +1 Quote
arbit Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I hope it has some gimmicks, then it would be worth every penny. Quote
sh9000 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) I'll be getting several of these. If they don't make the TV version then I'll hold on to the old school Matchbox ones. Actually I'll still make use of all of this with the HMR line. Edited February 7, 2016 by sh9000 Quote
Mommar Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 As a general rule, companies should never ask their customers what they want. Henry Ford has a famous quote about it, "They would have asked for faster horses" and Steve Jobs has lots of quotes about it... basically all saying it's dumb to do. The folks demanded the Monster... now none of them will buy it because what they really want is a repainted VF-1. I'm enjoying the reactions immensely. Quote
Big s Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The original monster never did transform. This looks great to me. It's big but to me it's a must have. I've been wishing for this for years. The Koenig monster toys came out a few years ago when Japanese toy prices weren't as high as today. If those were out today they may be closer to a $400plus release. Quote
Mommar Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I've said it before and I'll say it again, the gimmick is that it's being made. Quote
spanner Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Around $200? Not bad. Give me a preorder button. Yes!!! So around a july release date if i read the sign correctly?? 25k seems both a tad steep but still reasonable for it. I'll happily pay! Quote

But if it's a Web exclusive then it's 25000 + tax + fee + etc. Quote
Raptor One Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 More expensive than the Koenig even though it doesn't transform. Yikes. Just one for me. Well it's bigger than the Koenig. Right? So it doesn't transform? Dam if it does i'm in but if not, an easy pass. I love the monster but that's ways too much space Funniest post in this thread Quote
spanner Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Well it's bigger than the Koenig. Right? in the photo with it standing next to a 1:100 Hi-Metal it does look like its quite a good size but then again its kinda decieving as those 1:100 are quite small.. I'd say its gonna be a similar size to a Koenig or maybe just a smidgen bigger. Still plenty big enough for me to justify buying one! Quote
sh9000 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 The HMR Monster looks to be bigger than the Koenig. Quote
Roy Focker Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 While the original Monster doesn't transform it could have several moveable gimmick features to make up for it. At that size it Quote
McFly!! Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 While the original Monster doesn't transform it could have several moveable gimmick features to make up for it. At that size it i'd be happy with some leds =) It looks enormous! Imagine how big the box will be. Where do I put it? my usual answer: don't worry about it, just keep doing what you're doing! Quote
mechaninac Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 yeah, I really hope it's a normal release, that way the usual discount can kick in. But if it's a Web exclusive then it's 25000 + tax + fee + etc. Forgot to consider that possibility. You're absolutely right; if Bandai goes the Tamashii Web exclusive rout for the Monster, then all bets are off in regards to discounts... easier to secure a pre-order to be sure, but a larger, more immediate dent to the wallet. no3Ljm Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'm all in. Those who don't grab this will regret it. Nah. I'm not one of those. Besides, I'm not collecting HM-R figures so I'm safe. Quote
505thAirborne Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Wow that Monster is huge! I don't even know where I would put that thing. Maybe under my bed. It's called the "Monster" for a reason, she's a massive piece of Mecha...... and Firepower! Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) Monsters were the true unsung heroes of space war 1. There was a episode where they ambushed kamjin by hiding behind some bumps in the dirt and surrounded him. Sure they probably took ages to move but 1 hit and your doomed. (DYRL shows how easy it was to slice zentradi ships into pieces with one) Anytime it took a step it could wreck the floor accidentally which I find funny. They should have equiped it with it own anti gravity thing to increase the speed and not destroy the environment so much. Edited February 8, 2016 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote

SuperHobo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Man good on Bandai for keeping this Hi-Metal line going. Bringing back designs that have not gotten new toys in years. I'm not picking up every piece, but I'll be cherry picking some stuff from this line. Quote
jenius Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 clearer version : Clever placement of the gun so you can't tell he's flipping us all off. Quote
Lolicon Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Should have posed it standing on its head with some to-scale humans running away. Quote
sh9000 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 (edited) http://tamashii.jp/special/macross/ clearer version : Gonna be a very nice Macross collection of Valkyries and Monsters with enemy mecha to fight. Hey Arcadia go make a toy Regult and Glaug. Edited February 8, 2016 by sh9000 Quote
