I know the 19A and a few other variants are basically the YF-19. Then the 19F/S have the smoother lines of the Fire Valk, but without the canards and with stubbier wings. Were there any variants (besides the P) that have the refined shape of the F/S but the longer wings and canards of the Fire Valk?

Nah, that's just for the photo. They're displayed in the darkest corner of the room, far from any natural light.

I have some of these boxes too and they do make nice little displays that can be slotted anywhere.  For a long time, most cheap acrylic boxes do not have enough transparency until these became available.

In canon?  I don't think so.  Lots of them exist in the Master File, and there are several more customized variants that came up in Macross; The Ride, many of which I would love to see, but they've never been shown in any animation.

I think the Macross 30 game might have had a few other variants?  But I only specifically remember a couple of YF-19 skins, and a couple for the VF-19F.  I don't remember if there were alternates for the Fire Valk that they could market, even if they wanted to.

Though on a hilariously annoying side note.. I hope they don't rely on the game too much, because look what else is in that game.

Aisha had a VF-19E, but like the A it was basically still the YF-19... but pink.  Macross The Ride gave us the VF-19EF, which in turn was the basis for Isamu's VF-19EF/A in one of the Macross Frontier movies, but they too looked like the YF-19.  Heck, aside from new boosters and some SMS markings the VF-19EF/A was even painted the same as Isamu's YF-19.

It's too bad.  I love Macross 7, honestly, and I don't mind the existence of customized one-offs, but I prefer military hardware without faces.  And as much as I dig the YF-19/VF-19A and the VF-19F/S, I can't help but think that a variant that combines the sleeker body of the F/S with the longer wings and canards of the Fire Valkyrie/P, a more traditional head, and maybe a nice Skull Squadron deco would be my idea VF-19.

I haven't committed to buying the HMR Fire Valk, but if Bandai does retools I'd buy either a YF-19/VF-19A (VF-X2 colors, maybe), and either a VF-19F or S.  I'd maybe even go for a VF-19P if it's the mostly-white original colors and not the red-goo one.

It'll be a darn shame if Bandai quits on the HMR line before I get a VF-11 and VF-17, too.

Yeah, I live in SoCal too, I love Frank'n Son's. Brother and I used to go every weekend to play some MtG when we were into it. There weren't that many places that had the latest Macross toys though, I think ToyArena and one other place. But they were usually move expensive than what we could get them online for.

Yours is much nicer, but the acrylic one costs less than a third of your brannboll.

It will fit fighter mode, but battloid won’t while the case is sitting horizontally. If you stand it vertically, it can fit a full size DX Chogokin with Fast pack or even the GBP armor with the stand.

Last time I went, the hmr toys weren’t too bad in price, but those dx vf-1 toys were super overpriced. I think I saw hmr at three booths, while the dx ones were only at one, but were still nice to see in person even though I couldn’t afford them.

Yeah, 360⁰ view is great. I find myself looking back to get a view of the side profile of the VF-0D.

Got this via local online shopping app, but I'm pretty sure that these are sourced from China hence the cheap price. Amazon has these "Acrylic Display cases/shoe boxes with magnetic lid, stackable..." (edit: Amazon $10 ea sets). These should be available on most Chinese shopping apps for much cheaper, but I don't know about the shipping costs.

I was looking at acrylic cases for my LEGO sets but all the ones I could find were expensive. Even the sheets they sell at Home Depot are like $40 for an uncut one. I don't even know if it's enough material to make a box with either.

Yup raw acrylic sheets aren't that cheap, and when converted to ready-made consumer display solutions the prices go up a fair bit. Back when I set up my display room, there weren't many cost effective, dust proof wall display options. So I decided to use spare Ikea Billy shelving to make some wall-mounted boxes and bought acrylic sheets as the cover. Here's one example:
 

 

I always thought I would be making more of these, but now the ready-made acrylic shoeboxes are available and they work great being so flexible. Put on top of Detolfs, or line a couple or so on a wall shelf, on a desk, between books in a bookshelf, or just simply stack them up.

The HM VF-19S Blazer will stick around the HMR collection a little longer.  Just noticed that this type of figure stand with adapter connects and cradles the HM VF-19S Blazer perfectly.  Now it can be displayed at a taller height and even bank.  Still looks good with the HMR VF-19 Fire Valkyrie too.

So, Isamu was just an unapologetic YF-19 fanboy.  The VF-19EF wasn't just another YF-19 copy, it was actually a much more developed variant that was significantly different from the VF-19s we got in Macross 7.

The Nothung is a custom racing variant using that base design.

As far as the VF-19P goes though, it's a short hop skip and a jump away from a Skull paint scheme.  I never customized one of my Yamato versions, but if they get to the HMR edition, I might strip and customize several of those.

I still want to get around with using this scheme as well.  Maybe not that fancy, but even just painting the tails and covering up the red stripes with black gives a pretty good Skull scheme.

I didn't think to try and squeeze in the VF-0S in my acrylic box, but after seeing that stand of yours, I remembered that the included stands for the VF-0 HMRs come with an extra arm and joint (the reissue VF-4 doesn't) for higher posing/mounting. So I got one and voilà...

The included stands with tampo are nice but I prefer clear stands to give a better effect of something in flight.

What is up with all the reissues? VF-1J GBP (technically a "revival"), then VF-4, now VF-2SS? While I can appreciate them trying to keep the Macross part of the line alive, some new models like the recent VF-19 would probably be more effective. Then again, if they would reissue the army-building units like the brown VF-1A or the Regult, I bet a lot of people would bite.

Agreed.  This will probably come in a thicker box with new box art and the schematic sheet but it will be my first HMR Macross release that I'm passing on.

Unless they're building up funds to finally release the Tomahawk and Phalanx.

Don't forget HMR VF-25s. It's been a while since the crappy VF100s (used to have the armored alto)... about time to use what they've learned from refining the HMR line and renewal-ing and then revival-ing the DX chogokins.
