For wanting duplicates and not needing to get multiples of the 1/60 scale version as @MKT was alluding to. But, yes, "cost effective" might not be the appropriate term for a hobby where we're all willfully wasting our money . Quote
m0n5t3r Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I'll keep it in Gerwalk mode for now until I get tired of it in this mode. Gonna keep this permanently in Battroid eventually. Transformation was pretty easy compared to the HMR VF-0s. Not fiddly at all...so far. Quote

sh9000 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Found the Fire Valkyrie. It was next to some other unopened figures. Now it's with a few other HMR that still need to be opened. Bonus pic of a lovely sight. Quote
rsvictor1976 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Where are you guys finding these mass produced VF-1A figures from? I'm still trying to get just one! Quote

Seeing this makes me want to make up for it lol. Quote

MisaForever Posted November 25 Posted November 25 They wouldn't be shelf warmers at my local Walmart, I can tell you that. >_> Quote

Meanwhile, they sell like gangbusters at places like Miniso. Quote
Chronocidal Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The other series would probably sell much better, Macross 7 just has had next to no exposure or audience in the west until very recently, and even then, it's really a crapshoot whether the people who even know about it actually enjoy it. I'm actually curious how much being a direct shrunken copy of the Yamato mold has impacted sales. It's nice having a smaller cheaper alternative, but I feel like this one might not have much demand until they release the rest of Sound Force to go with it. Quote

I can see Zero, Plus, and maybe Frontier doing well here in the U.S. but I don't know if the general audience would of appreciated 7 or Delta since it focuses so much on idols and singing. Quote

Most Macross toys are shelf-warmers, not just the HMRs. All of the WWM releases in particular don't exactly fly off the shelves and have been readily available and often discounted. The base of people buying Macross valks and other figures like those on these forums is very, very small compared to other toy lines. Quote

The only Toys 'R' Us located near me are in Macy's and take up a small space in the department store. Quote

This is from an Asian/Japan TRU cuz of the Macross/Takara Tomy Quote

I kept hearing about a comeback, but I haven’t seen any of them anywhere. Most just sit as abandoned buildings. Some were converted into other things, but nothing as noticeable as a Toys’R Us. Nowadays the go to toy spot for cheap stuff is Target or maybe Walmart. And for the cool stuff oddly the Hobby Town stores seem to have a lot of figma, Sh Figuarts, Hmr and even Mafex. Although everyone here in SoCal knows the craziest place for cool toys is Frank’n Son’s. It’s both famous and infamous depending on which seller you deal with. Quote
sh9000 Posted November 27 Posted November 27 Transformed to Fighter mode. My wife put up the tree early so the Fire Valkyrie is ready to test out. That sale at Nin-Nin-Game is good. I'm tempted to get another one to just leave in Battroid mode. I'm hoping for as many VF-19 variant releases. Come on Bandai. Oh, and long live HMR. Quote

It's not helped that most WWM toys are just reissues, and many of us who are into Macross and are willing to drop large stacks of money on them bought them years ago. Or that Bandai charges a significant markup for WWM releases vs just buying from Japan. Quote
m0n5t3r Posted November 28 Posted November 28 (edited) Got an acrylic "shoebox" to display my VF-0 HMRs in so they won't get dusty. Edited November 28 by m0n5t3r Quote
