Will check my Monster later. Could it be that that plastic piece had an air bubble when casted, or developed a crack when it was assembled?

I see an expansion pin, and there is also a crack where it is inserted (in one side).

You know.. zooming in on that pin makes me curious.  Don't the teeth on those spring pins usually mesh?  That one looks like it might have been oversprung, or twisted, and the teeth colliding meant the pin was forced to a larger diameter than intended.

Heartbreaking.  After 3 years on the display shelf, I was packing up the collection for a move.  I barely laid a finger on the HWR monster's port arm and it fell right off at the elbow.

Does the monster suffer from G(reen) Plastic Syndrome?

Sorry to see this. That truly sucks.

I had a little bit of time to work some more on the setup today.  I’ll see if I can finish it tomorrow.  Based on Macross lineart.

That's because where not worthy for Bandai's attention in the Macross department as they're too focused in other things under their banner @RDX17:cray:

This setup took some time to complete because it was like posing 14 different figures in 1 space.  It’s close enough to the source material.  I’ll take a final pic of it maybe tomorrow when the sun is out.

This just happened.  When to move the arm out towards the side. First touch in that direction and it came right off.  :(

I believe @jenius had a very similar break on one of the early HMRs.  I don't think it's very common, but unfortunately, not unheard of, and just a by-product of X% going to have a flaw in the material.

You could try drilling it and pinning it, or maybe even cold weld if you don't plan on handing it much.

I know this advice comes too late, but it's generally a good idea to loosen up the shoulders on the HMRs by grabbing them directly at the top of the joint and moving them around a bit first.  For whatever reason, the VF-1D seemed to be made especially stiff.

Any chance you could reach out to Bandai for a replacement joint?

Worth a try but these weren't officially sold here, came out how many years ago and Bandai not making them anymore.
