Thanks for the heads up with anime-export. Just ordered. Never used them before, I paid with PayPal but it still shows as unpaid on their page so I can’t request shipping. Does it usually take some time for them to update?

And the gunpod not fitting is kinda worrying. Hopefully just a flub. Wait, two gunpods? Also, those are also some unsightly sprue marks.

Those two images prove my first rule for HMR's, Battroid mode is always fun to pose.  It was true of the VF-1's.  Not sure if transforming or the other two modes are worth anything though.

HMR are Parts-formers.  Why should the gunpod have to fit?

No, you're right. I forgot it was intended for recreating the gunpod coming out of storage, not actually storing. All the previous promo photos always implied the former, this one of a specimen out in the wild just set off a false alarm.

The cannon in the front is drooping because it hasn’t been glued on yet.  The Gnerl is supported well on a Tamashii stage.  The support attachment at the back is from the HMR Glaug.

I wouldn’t mind if one of these were custom made in HMR scale to go with the VF-2SS.

The second gunpod is to mimic the storage gimmick (more accurately, the gunpod being ejected from inside the armor).  I don't think there's any way to replicate it faithfully.  There's animation magic going on there.  Even when collapsed as the lineart calls for, the gunpod is simply too long to fit in the left arm armor.

No problem.  Yeah I’d want at least 1 enemy mecha to accompany the VF-2SS.

It went back in stock and sold out again a while ago at HLJ.  I think if I want to get my 6th VF-2SS for customizing it would have to be at NY’s price of 11280 JPY when it goes back in stock but it will probably be relisted for higher.

And how much kibble is still visible in fighter mode. This is the best 2SS effort yet, but it still doesn’t fully capture the sleekness of the design. It’s possible there was just too much anime magic to ever fully realize it. 

I do appreciate the engineering that went into the hips and legs to get them all where they need to go. Full marks for that.

I feel like this about as good as we can expect at 1/100 scale.  Definitely leagues better than the shitpiece Evolution Toy put out...
