Hi-Metal R

Whoa whoa trooper, Invid are the Robotech or Mospeada license territory and Bandai doesn't go there. Also, if they stayed in scale at 1/90ish the Invid would be bite sized. I'm afraid Hi-Metal R toys are Macross only and as of right now, just the first arch of Macross.

Well somebody needs to make some gosh darnit!

My wife appreciated your compliments. She told me she wanted to appear in another video around the time the Monster was confirmed. After she had acted as a background in the Makuroso video some of the comments were about it being sexist and unfair to use a girl just as a background so I figured she should have more of a role the next time around. Since the Monster is both simple and phallic it seemed like the ideal review to let her have some fun with it. Since I knew all the features in advance I did most the writing and she did some fine tuning and some ad-lib.

Man the feedback has been all over the map on that video. Some people definitely take their toys very seriously but it's my hobby and i get to have fun :p.

You're welcome. I'm glad she got to hear the positive things I had to say about the review. By the way, does she handle your toys frequently? She seems to have the knack for handling toys properly, as seen when she moved the arms so that the joints don't get stressed in the wrong way.

In other reviews, sometimes I cringe at the way they manhandle their toys, especially expensive ones.

Anyways, I hope both of you don't take the haters too seriously. Keep up the good work and continue having fun as you see fit :)

Us Mospeada fans could only dream of Bandai getting a hold of the license to do all the mecha..sadly..now it looks like it's gonna be Evolution Toys... <_<:(

Oh if only. I just don't see how ET has what it takes to improve upon what toynami/aoshima/CMS already produced.

My wife is awesome and always happy to hop in front of a camera. The comments section of the video is pretty humorous. Lots of people had fun with it so that's cool. Some people got very angry about it which is inexplicable to me since the thumbnail serves as a pretty decent warning. Someone who is clearly struggling with English keeps trying to leave a profanity-laced comment that essentially says that if he wanted to jerk-off he'd go to porn sites.. I think the humor was lost on him. Hey, over-the-top toys deserve an over-the-top review.

Gives new meaning to Boobytrap.

I think someone asked for this pic:

We need to see the 1/72 Monstar scratch-build next to these. If you havent seen it.

A friend of mine came up with a really cool idea for displaying it. Once I finally get a detolf setup he told me to put some spent shell casings around it's feet. I think that'll be pretty awesome. Just gotta see what caliber works best.

That will look cool.

Is that a California accent? Kinda reminds me of a Philly / Delaware thing.

She's a Southern California girl. She wasn't trying to do too much with her voice but to me it sounds like she was channeling the girl from the Adam & Eve commercials you hear around Valentine's Day on the radio.

Love the idea of some shells near the monster or used in a diorama, good call.

After handling this toy some more I really really really hope we hear about more destroids soon.

It was an awesome review. I'm sure you both had a blast doing it. I kept expecting to see '1-900-MONSTER 3.99 a minute' flashing on the bottom of the screen.

Not to conflict with any of Bandai's upcoming Macross releases, I hope there is a preorder for a Destroid in October for a January release.

Yup

And I hope its the freakin Spartan or Phalanx and not the two we ALWAYS seem to get! Come on Bandai! You're on a roll! Keep it up! B))

+1

Despite all of the supposed hate I tossed at the VF-1's (and the 19... I do honestly hate that thing) I'm looking forward to any fixed mode HMR Bandai can produce. They've knocked every one of them out of the park, as I knew they would.

Nice review jenius.

Yes more destroids bandai

Dunno much about artillery but do the shell loading at the back look small for the size of the barrels?

For plastic shells, koto used to sell bullets and shells that might be big enough but requires painting and doesn't look as good as brass.

My review is up! I figured it was appropriate I pull out the big guns for the video... you'll see what I mean. In the meantime, here's my scale comparison:

400mm shells would be 4mm at the 1/100 scale (Natch). I will have to take a look at the footage of the MKI firing to see what kind of extraction base the "brass" has.

Addendum: After watching this:

I see that the MkI uses a smooth cannister shell with no extraction tooling. The MKII is a newer model relatively and may use a gas, atomized, and/or hypergolic propellant. I sort of remember mention of an advanced propellant method being used.
