wmkjr Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Looks like a good climbing angle for a ladder. Quote
ArchieNov Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Okay thanks! I'd imagine the operators will be winded by the time they reach the top. EDIT: You know what's awesome? All of those articulation points shown in that schematic above are present in the toy. I didn't realize those red lights could rotate until I saw it in the diagram. The manual makes no mention of it. ArchieNov Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Line art comparison. Jenius is much better at doing this sort of thing though. Quote

Roy Focker Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I've got the same exact IKEA bed spread cover as ArchieNov. It is like we're sleeping in the same bed. Quote
AIRMAG Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Actually, the legs of the Monster were fully extended. If it was retracted, the "thigh armor plates" would be angled forward. Extending the knees only increases the height by about half an inch. Thanks for the pics Quick question: Are the cannons floppy? Edited August 1, 2016 by titob0y Quote
sh9000 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 My 2 Monsters shipped at 1:41 AM. Woo hoo! Those little men on the Monster need shopping bags. It will look like they're on a shopping mall escalator. Quote
Mr Bomber Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Yes, I built it, but it's just a straight build out of the box with panel lining and decals. No painting involved (I got no skills for that). And yes, UC forever! It's the only timeline worth watching Is this a ladder or stairs? Or maybe an escalator? The angle doesn't seem right for either one. its a slide!!! wwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Quote
AIRMAG Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Do you guys think this is a good price on ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bandai-HI-METAL-R-Super-Dimension-Fortress-Macross-Destroid-Monster-/322208942124?hash=item4b0526482c:g:PbkAAOSwSv1Xkb0J Quote
sh9000 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 The store must have got them for way less than $200 each in order to sell them for $230 shipped. Quote

ArchieNov Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the pics Quick question: Are the cannons floppy? They're pretty tight out of the box. Upon closer inspection, I don't think they're ball joints. They seem to be composed of a metal hinge joint that swings outwards, which is placed on a swivel joint that makes it swing from side to side. The combination of these two joints makes it have the same range of motion as a ball joint, just without the ability to twist the cannons (and you wouldn't want to twist them either since that would make the UN Spacy tampo go out of alignment). I've got the same exact IKEA bed spread cover as ArchieNov. It is like we're sleeping in the same bed. LOL. Funny coincidence huh? I also noticed that they use one of our other IKEA bed spreads in the Ultimate Fighter house. The multi-colored polka dot one. Edited August 1, 2016 by ArchieNov Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Thanks for the pics!!! It's a true monster toy but next to the Glaug the scale bothers me Guess I won't be displaying the Glaug and the Monster together. It would exacerbate my OCD. Quote

Roy Focker Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 That Monster wouldn't have been able to enter your little city without stepping on a bunch of people or knocking over a couple buildings. I don't think it is suitable for urban warfare. Quote
locidm Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I was having fun with my monster and not going for realism or logic. Thanks for pooping my party. I'll go back to my little city seeing my monster in urban warfare now. Oops there goes another building. Quote
Big s Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Just got my monster today and it looks great. It's very heavy and a bit of a workout with all the strong metal joints💪 Quote
Keiichi Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 dont mind the off scale buildings Awesome pictures! Love that city set-up, it totally works with the Hi-Metals in my eyes, especially in that close-up/city-level shot, Quote
seti88 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 dont mind the off scale buildings Thats a noice setup! I can see so many photography opportunities there! Are those N-scale tomy buildings by any chance? Quote

Convectuoso Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I have a question: What is the difference between the old Hi-Metal VF-1J and the new Hi-Metal R version? Thanks Quote

mzhao3 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I just checked the status of my monster. The US Post Office didn't recognize my address (my building has a range of values for address e.g. 170-180 XXX Street) and it's going to return to sender (AmiAmi).. Does anyone know who I should contact to get the package before it heads back to japan? Man this situation is a bummer. Quote

Contact the post office and ask them to hold it for you instead of returning it. Then go pick it up. In the future, try having stuff delivered to your work if possible. Quote
