aaajin
Its a pity arcadia couldnt capitalize on the 19 mold before Bandai jumped in...I was really hoping for variants of the 19 but I think Bandai will outpace them in that regard..silly silly arcadia Edited : looking back at the pictures, it would be interesting to see what mechanism design theyll be using for the wing-kibble (high speed mode?).. Kurisama
It's within Arcadia's abilities to churn out a 'simple' redeco paint job + different coloured plastic to bring back some customers quicker than say trying a new mould (wings, head unit, etc) to bring out (rather risky) other 19 variants. Bandai sure as hell will. Arcadia could try and counter this by trying relatively safe repaint like a VF-1S Roy homage or Ozma (schwing!) or low-viz (hrrrng) scheme to boost profit quickly and help float the VF-0D they're pouring everything into atm. If I can afford a new 19DX (and I love all the other modes - and I have to because Arcadia's 19, with all it's faults - is just a work of art imho), I shall. I would prefer a 3rd Arcadia YF-19 for gerwalk purposes, in my collection - and an Arcadian Low-Viz VF-19A would do nicely. Or a CF VF-19A. Buuuut, if the scale is right and it all checks out, Jimbo - a DX YF-19 to lead the pack with all the super parts would be ace. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/vf1a/YF19Fokker00.jpg http://hairenfleur.web.fc2.com/vf19a01.JPG http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2011/038/9/e/vf_19a_in_flight_by_zinjo-d391pjj.jpg http://www.ebasenet.com/images/erix93/Macross_VF-19A/Macross_VF-19A.jpg http://userdisk.webry.biglobe.ne.jp/011/514/43/N000/000/003/136137605753613112079_IMG_0029.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nRNxKF5.jpg I just want repaints now!!! close313
Just to reiterate lechuck's discovery, I took a closer look at the picture and found that the centre of the codpiece (with reference to the vertical indent) is not in the same alignment as the seam of the landing gear doors. It doesn't look like parallax error to me (i hope not!). Seems that a waist swivel is present?! Because if it's aligned, the indent should be at the left side instead of the right. I think this release is getting better by the minute, if I turn out to be right lol. Edited November 1, 2014 by close313

Oh sorry when I say variant I mean other paintjobs like the 19A. Should be relatively easy for them than say trying a new mold (0D). The Old Man
I love my arcadia YF-19, it's what got me into collecting valks in the first place. I can see a place for this in my collection too though. It's different enough from the arcadia version to be worthwhile; sms markings, super parts, tampo printing etc. I can see no negatives in this release at all, it's awesome to have the choice of either let alone both. aceoftherebellion
^THIS^ He's in the credits, listed as "Isamu." shot0002.png All of the peripheral materials have been in complete agreement with this too. Macross chronicle was pretty explicit with their writeup about the whole thing. I'm frankly surprised it was even a debate, it seemed pretty cut and dry to me. MacrossJunkie
Just to reiterate lechuck's discovery, I took a closer look at the picture and found that the centre of the codpiece (with reference to the vertical indent) is not in the same alignment as the seam of the landing gear doors. I think this release is getting better by the minute, if I turn out to be right lol. I thought there was a waist swivel too when I first saw pics of this thing because if you look right above the label where you mark "indent" in the first pic, you can see how the piece that the legs and cod piece are attached to is separate from the torso by that horizontal line. However I just don't know how it would actually turn due to the way the 19's transform. You've got that whole spine thing that folds up and over the cockpit and holds the upper chest, arms and head. They would have to somehow allow that whole assembly to rotate independently as well in order to have a functional waist swivel. I guess I can think of one way to accomplish that, but I'm not sure if that is how it's done on the toy. Edit: After studying the pics more, I think how I think it would be done matches how the toy does it. The part that connects to the legs and codpiece is likely smaller piece with a rounded back that swivels within a housing so that it can be independent of the spine attachment point. It probably has enough gap to allow it to swivel 10-15 degrees either way. By the look of the pics, if I'm interpreting what I'm seeing correctly, the waist is already swiveled as far left as it can go relative to the torso. skullmilitia
It looks like a waist joint, we don't know the full transformation yet, but anything is possible. Bandai has had a 25,27,29 and a 30 to work out kinks. I hope it ends up showing on this.

Ignacio Ocamica
I'm a fighter guy for the YF-19 and that chestpiece that covers the nosecone will translate to a fat neck in fighter. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not expecting a good fighter mode.

F360
I like good news, but my wallet sure as heck don't like this one. will probably try to get 2 this time, but it'll most likely be sold out in seconds, and I'll end up buying it from Nippon-yasan again. At least looking at the pricing trend, it'll be around the $220 range and not Arcadia's $300 range.
Chronocidal
The thing I think I'm most curious about.. there's no cutout in the back of the thighs. Every other YF-19/VF-19 I've seen has those cutouts for where the sides of the chest plate sit... except one. That custom blue Supernova schemed Hasegawa kit used a system that let the sides of the chest slide inward to make room for the intakes. The chest there looks too solid to allow for that kind of mechanism, but I'll be interested in seeing how the intakes are kept whole in fighter mode. wm cheng
However---color isn't "faded/washed out" like Yamato's (probably TOO rich, but it at least actually looks tan, and not "bone") and knowing the Bandai DX line---it'll be 10x easier/more fun to transform. As in, you'll transform it because you enjoy it, and it'll be quick. Vs a Yammie, where you're like "yeah, I'll transform it NEXT month..." Those are 2 big factors for "mass appeal". Eye-catching+fun. Yep, I completely agree with David. That's exactly how I feel, I've transformed my Bandais whenever I feel like it (no loose joints yet) but I leave my Yamacadias in aircraft mode only. In fact most of mine (other than the VF-1s which is nice and simple) haven't been in any other mode - every time I try (especially with the VF-4G) I think I'm going to break/snap something plastic, That stupid orange heatshield on the VF-11, that stupid rudder fold on the YF-19 (really?! it serves no purpose other than to infuriate me!) Plus they look so bare with just the minimum of markings that they look way more "toyish" than the Bandais until I have to scrounge to dress them up with water slide decals. On top of all that, I usually pay twice as much for a Yamacadia than a Bandai! I'm really hoping for a beautiful fighter mode on this baby to satiate my desire for a decent YF-19. Come on Bandai, a lot is riding on ya for me!
Guest davidwhangchoi
fun to transform = not breaking your wallet if you mess up and scratch the whiteout like paint and eventually throw future on the loosened joints. i wonder if the fast packs on the legs will be hard to put on? jenius
I can't wait for fighter pics. I'm guessing the person who said this will look like the hi metal in fighter is probably right so we'll see how many people were truly offended by the hi metal in that mode. anime52k8
I can already tell this will look worse than the arcadia in fighter mode, but the battroid mode looks better (and by better I mean more eye catching and dynamic on display rather than more accurate to control art) and it will match the aesthetic of the existing DX chogokins better. I think I'll put my existing YF-19 in fighter mode with my VF-11 and YF-21. and put this one in battroid with all my Bandai's.
wm cheng
Well, the Arcadia version isn't that great in aircraft mode either, what kills it for me is the lower intake area, that huge step down at the top intake lip, the huge ass wing root hinge with the large space in the lower gap and the extended black knee joint. Plus in plan view from the top, the rear legs just looks too far apart. Overall the forward nose slopes too far downward looking like its drooping - it just lacks grace in the aircraft mode - its too obviously meant for squat chunky battroid mode. David Hingtgen
All Bandai needs to do to get a LOT of converts, is to LOCK the wings into fighter-mode position.
xrentonx
Well I love Arcadia's fighter mode and it's my yard stick in the realm of transforming YF-19 toys. If Bandai can do better then great. Make sure it's matte and NOT glossy!

Guest davidwhangchoi
yeah those wings are fragile. what if they make detachable wings like the 171 one set for standard and one set of wings that's configured in high mode Edited November 1, 2014 by davidwhangchoi

IXTL
Regarding high speed mode, this image shows what appears to be a metal hinge in the wing glove, which presumable is meant for high speed wing configuration.
jenius
I thought the better solution would be to just put a groove in the leg that the wing could slide into.
Chronocidal
I thought the better solution would be to just put a groove in the leg that the wing could slide into. There's really not enough room to pull that off if you consider how much stuff is crammed in that leg. I took apart my old Yammie YF-19, and the knee joint, gear bay, and ankle mechanism pretty much met in the middle of the thigh.
